I'm talking big hairy manly cojones, the kind only Black Isle Studios have shown (shoven?) in the past :D

I want my moral choices dammit!! I want a game that makes me pay morally for my choices, good or bad!!

Has nothing to do with having balls. The number of countries that have made it illegal to "kill," children in a video game through actions of the player has grown since FO2 was released.

It has nothing to do with the company that makes the games, it has to do with our Governments.

No, I mean it takes a company that is willing to sell a couple fewer games in order to make a decent rpg.

But of course, Bethesda is all about the monies and the big sales, so I dunno why I'm expecting anything but a safe formula from them.

Oh well... Thank heavens the FO MMO is back on track!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!

I think Oblivion was there only "big sales," as far as RPG goes. DaggerFall, etc. were all ambitious and shallow. I just don't understand creating huge worlds that are so shallow. What is the point? Give me an RPG that is small and filled with CHARACTERS. That to me is entertainment.
That was the nicer thing about Oblivion. It was a smaller world, but the plot had direction. Personally, the only complaint I would have would be the combat. The enemy A.I.'s only function seemed to be charge.

That said, I'm pissed as Bethesda for using the same engine as Oblivion. It's hard not to call Fallout 3 an Oblivion game in Fallout pants, especially when the presentation is so identical.

Oh! And now I'm playing Castle Crashers, which is awesome. And No One Lives Forever, which is blah.

I like the No One Lives Forever games, the story, characters and humor is awesome! I wish they'd make a third.

Also, I heard they're chopping up Starcraft 2 into three pieces.

My point exactly about this philosophy of building an engine and patching a story to it  This will not, and has ever, produced a memorable game.

Disagree on No Ones Live Forever though. This game was goofy fantastic, with adventure elements and dialogues to die for. Didn't enjoy the sequel as much though.

It might have been that way, at the time, but No One Lives Forever has not aged well.

Games don't age. You do.

It's always a risk to play an old game for the first time. I'm sure I'd have just as much fun with it as I did back then, but for the first timer it's not the same. This can be said of many games though, hence my reluctance to accept that NOLF is Meh. It's not, you just missed the boat :P

Reminds me of when I was talking about The Goonies with a friend, and the fond memories attached to this childhood movie, when another friend admitted he had never seen it and asked if he should. I'm 100% convinced he wouldn't like it at his age and recommended he didn't. That's just a movie you have to see when you're 5-6 or not at all.

Same thing goes for the movie Stand By Me... If you saw it as a Kid it was one of the kewlest movies ever, but if you watch it for the first time as an adult, you're most likely going to think to yourself, "What A Stupid Movie, What's The Point?"...
By The Way, I loved Goonies as well...

Of course games are the same way... Those who grew up with 8 and 16 bit games can go back to them and love them just as much as when they were kids... But if someone never had those games and just jumped into Playstation games or something then of course they are going to think that Nintendo is funky looking...

Alright, Fred, I shall retract my analogy and replace it with a new one. Games do no age. Games deteriorate. Their level design withers and falters under the strain of advancement, both in design and technical merit.

No One Lives Forever was a fine game. The dialogue was funny, the characters interesting. For the most part. The Opera Singer was annoying. That said...

I say it's blah because it's one of those action games that would really like you to behave in a stealthy manner, sometimes forcing you, and it's idea of stealth is all trial and error.

Oh, by the way, I'm playing NOLF on the playstation 2. If anyone had the impression I was playing it on the PC, they were wrong. I personally hate PC gaming due to it's incredibly high admissions price. I'm sure if I wasn't constantly poor, I wouldn't have that problem.

Anyway, I'd also say the level design is problematic. I spend a good amount of time running around some level trying to figure out where I'm supposed to go, only to find out I missed some non conspicuous switch lying in the back corner of a room I passed by a few times.

Plus, if I'm looking for spy parodies, Austin Powers is funnier, even in the sequels.

I love my pc games. Especially now that I get the old ones to work as well!

To totally bring the topic to a grindng halt....my current gaming experience has been the Wii Fit. The only stuff that I'm really enjoying is the cardio games. Do you remember awhile back when we traded Mii's? And I created the Tex Murphy group of Mii's? Well, I almost bust a gut laughing when Cub started running beside me, and I passed AC in a curve. :D There's also a stepping routine where everyone is together onstage.

Anyway, it's been pretty amusing, and I thought I'd share.
A fun activity to get my ass of the sofa.

Night!
