My current gaming-experience
It's a japanese roleplaying game. It's translated text. Which means you have to endure things like that, if you want to play the game.
To compare, I never read english books that've been translated to norwegian. It always ends up corny, silly, stupid or just plain wrong. Same thing with movies.
Once, I saw Pulp Fiction. Bruce Willis is arriving on the chopper outside the motel, and the sentence is translated (there and back again) to "It's not a motorcycle honey. It's a helicopter."
I live in the country that translated "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" to "Faggot Patrol".
Yeah. Seriously.
But to tip the discussion back towards the topic again, I'm seriously considering reinstalling and ploughing through Planescape: Torment. If only because I've never finished it.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Sounds like something from DragonBall Z or something...Vracar wrote:"We could escape, but they took our weapons...wait a second, my weapons are my fists!"

Ok... so I saw a carbunkle..... and just about puked...
Thanks Sai.
Anyway, Fred.... Planescape torment has a wonderful ending.
Very sad to say the least.
You can't help but feel sorry for the nameless one.
BTW, at the end of Final Fantasy 6 when you are on Kefka's tower you are switching from character to character every 5 minutes.
But It isn't in different timelines.
Thanks Sai.

This thread appears to have fallen back, so I can safely assume nobody's been playing any games. At all.
Heavenly Sword (PS3)
Kill a bunch of guys as an underdressed chick. Some Freudian motifs.
I had fun playing the game. The final boss was a bit of a pain in the ass, but that's better than a final boss that can be rolled over mechanically (See Bioshock), or no final boss at all (See Fallout 3). The cinematics were pretty well done.
Grand Theft Auto 4: The Lost and Damned (X-Box 360 download)
Blow up crap as a biker that gets somewhat involved in Niko's storyline.
Remember the biker from the game? Johnny? He shows up in two missions. Remember him? You're Johnny! Your dreams of playing the role of minor NPC are now realized! Actually, the expansion makes for an interesting storyline, but be prepared for an unexpected digital penis to show up on screen.
Condemned: Criminal Origins (X-Box 360)
Walk very slowly through dark hallways filled with homeless people, and then kill them to find a cliched serial killer.
This is the second time I've played this game, and it can get pretty creepy. Too bad the sequel wasn't as interesting. Better combat system, but not as interesting.
Prinny (PSP)
In this spinoff of the Digea series, play as a penguin like creature who travels off to find the ingridients and assemble the Ultimate Dessert for the demon Master Etna.
This game plays like those old 2d platform games, and is just as tough, both in difficulty and the amount of punishment it gives on whatever finger you use to push the attack button. Very tough final boss. However, you have a thousand lives, so you might be okay. I lost over three hundred lives playing through the game.

Just finished Medal of Honor:Pacific Assault. For it's time it wasn't bad, though it hasn't aged well. There are a couple things I'd like to mention about it.
1. The sun and moon glow when you're looking at 'em, and don't glow when you're not. Look up at the sun or moon at the right angle while walking and it'll look like a flashlight in the sky being flicked on and off.
2. The plot is somewhat broken. It's one of those stories that begin at the ending and then flashback to the beginning, forcing you to play through the memories until you're back at the end again, except...
You start attacking this island. You go on a boat ride, shoot up some bad guys and then a mortar shell knocks you unconscious. When you get back to the island the story doesn't cut to after the mortar shell; rather it cuts to you on the boat, the boat ride is longer and there is no mortar shell.
Normally no one expects an interesting story from a WW2 game, but they tried for this one. Hell, during the end credits they have the pictures of your squad mates next to their character names and voice actors. I guess so I can see the faces to the guys who keep running in front of my line of fire close up.

I just finished Call Of Duty: World At War, not too long ago... Pretty good game... I think Call Of Duty 2 was a bit longer though...

Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War were made by Treyarch. They're ants in the presence of the Gods from Infinity Ward (who made the original Call of Duty, CoD 2, and CoD Modern Warfare.)
I'm awaiting Modern Warfare 2 with glee!

Would explain why my feelings of World At War wasn't as good as COD 2...
Now Modern Warfare was a good game... I don't own it, but I played it with a friend of mine while he was home from Hernia Surgery for a few weeks... I plan on buying it...
I've been playing a game called Combat Elite with my son... The graphics aren't all that, kind of remind me of Metal Gear 2 for NES, but it's got a lot packed into it, we still haven't finished it and he has been enjoying it, so that's what matters...

I just started playing the new Still Life 2 game which I've been looking forward to ever since I finished the first game. That game left with a big cliff hanger and an apparent open ending. I clearly remember I was pretty upset when I first found out that Still Life 2 wasn't going to be made and how equally happy I was when I found out it would be made anyway
It's a really interesting game so far ... new feature in the game is time-limited puzzles which is very cool. Reminds me a bit of Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy).
I haven't finished the game yet though as I have other urgent matters to attend to before I can really sit back and enjoy it to the fullest, but I intend to finish it soon
Next game in the horizon for me is Tales of Monkey Island 1st chapter which will come TOMORROW. YAY - umm .. I mean ... ARRRRHHH

Hey Netroam, did they get the same guy to do threepwood's voice this go around? If so, I absolutely have to buy it. I was gonna plunk down on 3 cards to midnight this paycheck, but monkey island is my second favorite adventure game franchise ever ...
But to move things a bit along, the game that I've been blowing time on was Lord of the Rings Online, but I have fallen kind of into a slump on that ... this whole leveling thing just isn't as appealing as it used to be. What this world needs is a true sandbox mmorpg, with no levels, only skills. You could become whatever you wanted to be. I think Star Wars Galaxies used to be like that before they blew it.
So here in the very lately, my game of choice has been CSI: Hard Evidence. It's fun, but very, very linear.
Also, Netroam, knowing our mutual admiration of the wrestling industry, I wanted to point you to a website that has a bunch of behind the scenes booker based wrestling games you may or may not be interested in. At any rate, the link is www.greydogsoftware.com ... the 2005 edition of TEW just went freeware, so it's really cool if you just want to check it out. It's a little bit too stat intensive for me, but It's worth looking at if you're a wrestling fan.

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
Hey Mr. TM
Yes, they indeed got mr. Dominic Armato to do the voice of Guybrush - so that's awesome. Can't wait for it - have already bought the Plunder Pack which includes all 5 episodes + some other stuff
I may take a look at that website you mentioned. I haven't really played any Wrestling games for quite a while now - the last being on of the Smackdown vs. Raw games - I can't remember if it was the 2008 version, but it's definitely been a long time

So I am playing the Ghostbusters game right now.
Am at the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.
This game is a lot better than I thought it was going to be. The script is funny and the Gameplay is fun even though it does get a little repetitive.
But when you start to feel that, they throw in a boss to spice things up.
So far this game is a must play for any Ghostbusters Fan.
Btw.... Ghostbusters III The movie has been announced.
I just about wet myself.

Wet
Think Strangehold meets Kill Bill and Max Payne. You play as Rubi, who does aerobic slow motion kills for points. It's fun to play, but the strangeness of it shows up when:
Oh no! There's a guy right in front of you! What do you do? The obvious answer would be to shoot him, but that's not the best route in Wet. If you're not doing aerobics Rubi only fires one of her guns, and she fires it slower than otherwise. So, you're better off running past him and then sliding on your knees like a rock star, turning back so the camera's giving you a face full of crotch shot and shoot backwards as you pass him by.
Very stylistic, but otherwise brought down by quick time events. The final boss is just one long quick time event. There is no closure. It's also about five hours long.
______________________________
Uncharted:Drakes Fortune
Think Tomb Raider meets Gears of War. Generally a fun game, but at times the combat becomes a pain in the ass and quite a few times I leaped to my demise, unsure of where the game actually wanted me to jump.
Still, fun story, though. And for 20 bucks from Gamestop, it was definitely worth that price.

Wet looked really good when I saw the Trailer on TV... Shame they seem to have screwed it up with the game play... I guess I'll put that on my Rent list instead of Buy list...
