My current gaming-experience
Final Fantasy 6, 7, and 8 were the best ones, in my opinion. Also, Baf? FF8 is the one with the flashbacks.
My favorite characters are Barrett, Cid Highwind, Squall, Rinoa, and the Figaro brothers.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Favorite characters, Locke, Terra, Cloud, Squall
Favorite bad guy is Kefka. He is by far the most insane, mainly because he actually know what he was doing.
In the words of Alfred Pennyworth... "Some people just like to watch the world burn."
I like Sephiroth as well too. I didn't feel he had every reason to be as pissed at the world as he was. Kefka really didn't have any reason at all, other than he was just plain crazy.
Nothing like psycho clowns to bring about the end of the world.

I've finished 7, 8, 12.
I got quite far in 9 (then got stuck and it sorta got buried under future games).
I couldn't make it far through 10 due to boredom... maybe someday.
My favourite is FF7, actually my favourite game ever because nothing can really replace the enjoyment of first playing it all those years ago, amazing game for its time. I (used to when I could afford it) collect figurines so I have the resin figure for Aeris, Cloud, Yuffie and Vincent. Miniature Highwind. Mini Advent Children Cloud and Tifa. Cloud from Kingdom Hearts. Cait Sith and Red XIII action figure. Advent Children Cloud on motorbike. And I think I may have FF7 Cloud on Hardy Daytona motorbike (can't remember).
Also got old FF8 action figures for Squall, Rinoa and her dog. And some small figurines of Zidane and Vivi from FF9.
I can see peoples reasons for disliking FF8, especially since 7 was a tough act to follow (I know I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the next in the series) but I thought it was an OK game overall. Some nice characters, fantastic FMV for the time, OK (if a little confusing at times) plot.
FF9 was cool because of the style of it and the varied characters.
FF12 was OK, although I didn't really felt we saw as developed characters as other games. I think the stance they took was to not have any one be an obvious lead but this kind of made things suffer in parts where a strong lead character may of helped. Also I got very tired of traversing those loooong areas like that darn tower! But again the overall story was entertaining enough, some of the world and its cultures was interesting and as always the use of graphics/video was impressive.
Anyway looking forward to the next FF game on PS3!

I know that FF8 had flashbacks of memories, but you didn't switch and play the characters in the flashbacks... Did you???Fred Buer wrote:Final Fantasy 6, 7, and 8 were the best ones, in my opinion. Also, Baf? FF8 is the one with the flashbacks.
It might not even have been a Final Fantasy game that I'm thinking of... I could have swore it was, but she has a lot of those character type RPGs... All I remember is that she got really aggravated with it and stopped playing it... I'll have to ask her when she gets home later if she can remember what game it was... It's been about 6 or 7 years that this all happened...
I know we still have it, unless he gave it to a friend of hers on the shore... I don't believe in the trading in of games, unless it was a game that I really didn't like and have no intention whatsoever of ever playing it again... Otherwise I keep all of my games...

It does sound like FF8. There was a section of the game where you'd be playing as Squall and his team and other times you'll suddenly be taken to the past playing as Laguna and his team. I guess this may of been one reason why the game plot felt a little confusing at times.
Of course I didn't finish 9 or get far in 10 so I wouldn't know if there were flashback sections in those though.

Yeah Laguna sounds very familiar... But she loved FF8, so it most have been another game entirely that did something like that, I just remember that she couldn't stand the flashbacks... About every 10 minutes, the team she was currently playing would pass an archway or something and then the screen would blur and fade out and you would be this other team and it went on and on like that... There were a couple of times I thought she was gonna throw the controller through the TV...
FF8 was her favorite, so maybe I'm getting something confused... Like I said, this was at least 6 years ago if not 7 or even 8...

Well I'd be interested to know which game it is then.
The flashbacks in FF8 weren't as often as that (when you changed teams you usually had to explore an area, defeat some enemies, go through some dialogue/plot etc.) so you're probably right that it isn't the one. Off-hand I can't think of a game with excessive flashbacks like that, although I haven't yet played the FF games before FF7.

I'll rack her brain tomorrow if I think of it and see if she remembers... Maybe it was FF8 and she just got annoying with that part, but I thought I remembered her quiting the game because of it...
But I know she loved that game so she never would have quit FF8, because I remember the one Monster or Spirit that you get, he is this Green thing that uses Lightning/Electricity for its power... She named it Squirt, she thought the thing was so cute... I liked the Water Lady thing and the Fire thing that looked like a Bull...

I loved Carbuncle (the green thing). The cutest Guardian Force... yep! Chocobo guardian force probably comes a close second because I like his bunny-like ears more.
(P.S. Don't put "Carbuncle" into Google Image Search, not what I was expecting...
If you're tempted do a normal Google web search and read the summary for the first link (without going to the Wiki article). If I'd done that, I wouldn't of gone straight to a general image search! )

AAAAAAAAGHH!! You bastard!! I had to google that, and now my eyes are filled with tears and pedestrians!
Also, I'm pretty sure your wife didn't get annoyed with FF8. But you did go back in time in that game to play as Laguna, though that happened, what... Four, five times? Maybe six? Don't recall at the moment, it's been a few years.
My favorite Guardian Force was Doomtrain.
Oh no, I accidentally remembered GF Boosting. My poor thumb. My poor square-button.
Now it'll be another couple of years until I play it again.
Also, I have a giant-sized wallposter of Squall. It's from the scene where he watches the beach assault from the boat, before the landings. It's pretty cool.

It's just like the old saying "Don't Look Down", what do people do??? Yep...
Jen, keep at it, eventually you'll win I'm sure... But if those Shots are losing, I can't wait to see what winning is... Those are some beautiful shots Jen...
Can someone get me a website for A Vampyre Story that works, please... All of the ones I'm finding seem to be broken links, all of the pages have an error when loading...

I actually really didn't like Final Fantasy 8. The story was horribly convoluted, and the dialogue was awful. For example! *this quote may not be 100% accurate, as it's been a while.
"We could escape, but they took our weapons...wait a second, my weapons are my fists!"
Anyway...
Super Mario Galaxy
Best time I've ever had with the Wii. That being said, I still consider the system weak due to the fact that other than Super Mario Galaxy, there aren't that many games I can think of that were fun.
