Personally, and this is gonna sound funny because everyone treats Vista like it's the plague, but my new computer has it, and I already have my version of Pandora and Overseer up and running on it with no problems at all. Well Overseer has a few hiccups here and there, but it's totally playable. I had Vista on my old puter too, and it's my belief that you can accomplish anything on this operating system, you just gotta know where the settings are for what you want to do. Hell I even got my old version of Close Combat working on Vista. Took some tweaking, but I finally have it up and running. As a matter of fact, I have yet to run into a game that I love that I absolutely cannot play on it. I'm sure that there are games that just WONT work on it, but I have yet to run into them. The compatibility button that lets you run things in compatibility mode for win 95, or win NT, or any of the previous window incarnations fixes 75% of all problems with my older games that aren't DOS based.

Wow this is fantastic.
If anyone has the time they should advertise this around, because now finally the games are going to be more accessible than they ever were before at a low price AND with bonuses! If that isn't enough incentive for new blood to get hooked onto the Tex Murphy series I don't know what is ;)

I will definitely be getting the first 2 Tex games as I've never had those. I'll wait to see how much the complete pack is though, as for convenience I'd like to have them all. :D If my funds permit that is... :x

P.S. I'm glad this isn't an April Fools like the Little Big Adventure community pulled awhile back

I was so dissapointed. :P

By the way... I like what GOG are doing and I hope they get some more old classics on there. I'd like to have the Gobliins games again. I could never get them to work on a newer PC and I think I've since traded or lost them.... :|

don't worry it's plasted everywhere, & they are the best seller on gog this week.
the first 2 you can buy for $5.00 thats $2.50 each. Years ago someone sent me a copy of one of them as I told them I had never played it. I installed it & then deleted straight away as it was nothing like UAKM or Pandora. You see abit of it in overseer in gideon's game room.

Although I had the games setup on the HD/installer I purchased UAKM just to support the guys as I would assume they are getting something out of it.

I will only buy overseer if we get the dvd quality. Reading some posts from GOG that's seems to be everyone's attitude. GOG advertised overseer as a 6gb file but now it has gone down 2.5gb so it looks like it will be the cd version.

personally I don't know why everyone is excited as it's only the same as what we have been playing except we click on dos box icon instead UAKM icon.

It'll be interesting to see how they set up Overseer because I think it is not a DOS game and will not run in DOSBox.

You're right Doc, Overseer was Windows Based and doesn't run in Dos, so Dosbox won't work...
I'm really interested to see if they have fixed all the glitches and whatnot... It would be nice to play Overseer without the worry of hangups and anything else...

I could have sworn that Nilo figured out a way to get Overseer working on windows xp.

Didn't he??

You can get it working on XP and Vista, but from most of what I've heard it pretty glitchy... I haven't tried to run it myself on newer systems... It will be a real treat to play again if they've got to running smoothly...

Overseer played okay on xp, once you muted the midi to get rid of (error code does not mean error)

Just remember everyone it was the dvd version that was the problem.

I didn't see this question specifically addressed on here: This may seem a silly question, but is the Overseer version on GOG the CD version or the DVD version? If it's the DVD version, have they solved the "issue" of having to download Mediamatics DVD Express, or is the buyer still responsible for making sure he has an MPEG2 decoder?

And did they go through and fix bugs to get it working a little better in XP and Vista? Failing that, are there at least suggestions for installing it like checking 95 or 98 compatibility?

It is currently the CD version, but they are working to see if they can get the DVD version to work, it should come out as a Free Upgrade if you've already purchased the CD version...

But from things I've read there are still some bugs to work out even with the CD version right now, but they have been on top of things so far...

Got these working with Dosbox a while back (and I do recall playing Overseer under XP once), but the GOG package seems so much more convenient.

Of course, I do have that Commodore packed up with Mean Streets in a box next to it for some real nostalgia... :P
