Re: New York, New York

Yeah I'd like to spend 2 months over there because I'm adventurous and have too much money! But September will be my little taster trip. So if I don't like it, or if I fail to get Monsieur Bush to choke on a pretzel, I won't come back and I'll spend my 2 months in.... CANADA!! Anyway Bafitis - ever ...

Re: New York, New York

Unfortunately I can't do a "guy trip", but nevermind. I've heard that New England is awesome in the Autumn so might see if I can fit that in somewhere. We'll have to see. Happy easter everyone - right now it's snowing (but not staying put) which is not what you expect at Easter! It's 3 mon...

Re: New York, New York

Ah brilliant, thanks! So I have longer than I thought to tootle round. Not going anywhere else, unfortunately, although in 2009 I want to spend 2 months and go round the eastern states by Amtrak!! (and Greyhound at the places where Amtrak fails me...) My cunning plan is to visit these in order: New ...

Re: New York, New York

Oh thanks for the tips Fred! Luckily I don't smoke so "fag" shouldn't crop up. And my accent is definitely Surrey (ie slightly up myself) so Cockney Rhyming Slang may be a tiny bit difficult!

Re: New York, New York

OK so sort of like a London tube. Except the letters and numbers are a bit odd. Ah well! I think I've got my route from youth hostel to start of tour sorted, but how to get from Newark International Airport to the hostel is the interesting one. I refuse to pay cab fares. I'll walk!!

Re: New York, New York

I've found a hop on-hop off bus tour which seems to cover most places for £19, including the Staten Island Ferry. Now all I need is a place to stay and a new brain (the American version, to help me understand subways)...

Re: New York, New York

OK *scribbles frantically in notebook* I'd like to see the Liberty but the tours are hugely expensive... although someone said you can take the Staten Island Ferry for free and see it anyway? Also my parents made me promise I wouldn't kick around the city after dark. But I want to see Times Square a...

Re: New York, New York

Oooh thanks I'll do my best to enjoy myself! I'm just going for a holiday really. I'm spending 2 and a half weeks in the USA but 1 week is in Kansas seeing mates and another is in Ithaca, NY (seeing different mates) so only have a couple of days for a stopover in the city. I'd happily relocate to Am...

New York, New York

Hi guys - in September I'll be spending 2 nights in New York City (1 full day, plus a couple of half days in between airport hops) - is there anything you guys can recommend for a first timer? I don't drive and I tend to get lost so the keywords would be: Cheapish Interesting Foolproof Any suggestio...

Re: Interview tips

Second time lucky it seems! Had an interview this morning and it went really well (this seems familiar) Anyway this time I would really like to work for the company. The staff were lovely, it's more customer-service based and they tell me no day is the same. Also good opportunities for networking wh...
