Pandora: Hissing and popping during movies and voiceovers

After a number of years, I've finally been bitten by the TPD bug again. I'm running Windows XP and got the game and VDMsound installed per the files on Nilo's site. Great work btw! The game appears to be completely playable.

The issue I have is relatively minor. The soundtrack for the movies and Tex's voiceovers contains a very noticeable static hissing sound. My guess is that either the game doesn't like my onboard audio codec (Realtek AC'97) or the wrong soundcard settings are in the config.ini file. I'm leaning toward the latter. Unfortuately the game locks if I attempt to "Select the audio devices" from the control panel.

Ultimately the hiss is liveable, just extremely distracting, so I'm hoping someone here can help. Ugh, I'm so close I can feel it!

Long live Tex!

Had to rebuild my machine. I'm back to a fresh copy of xp sp2. I installed PD, applied the tex4 patch from your site, VDMsound and the launchpad, but pd will not start.

I ran the commands from your website and get to the "Set Sound Device" screen. I click OK and the screen goes black and the dos windows hangs. If I Alt-Tab out for a while and come back, this is what I see:

OK - I'll be sending the files in a few hours.

Nilo, you are just the "shiznit"! i put the files on and I'm rocking and rolling! Haven't seen tex like this in damn near a decade! The sound on the voice overs has a bit of static to it, but nothing too serious, everything else works great!

Thank you man, I really appreciate it!

Btw, do you have similar files for UAKM?
