Longtime UTM'ers, here's to us
Friends, I've loved this board for so many years now, and enjoyed so much of the interaction I've had with you. At first it was Tex that brought us together, but we quickly learned to appreciate, like, and even love each another for deeper reasons. Tonight as I played the game, I was surprised to find my nostalgia was not as much about me and Tex, but about me, Tex, and you all.
We're a small group, but I am convinced that if there hadn't been an active unofficial Tex Murphy board all these years, CJ, AC, et al wouldn't have felt as much of an impetus or ever been confident enough to attempt another go round. We can and should be grateful to Big Finish for bringing him back, and to all the backers who raised so much money to get this project off the ground. But I don't think it would be amiss for us to pat ourselves on the back for being here all this time and keeping the flame alive. Thank you, James, for what you've done for us, and thank you all for being my friends.
To the newbies, welcome aboard. You're among some of the best people on the Internet.
I declare May 7th to be henceforth known as Texmas: the day we celebrate the advent, resurrection, and second coming of Tex, all in one.

Cheers to that, Jerry. It's pretty incredible. I've been a member here since...1999 maybe? That's a hell of a lot of history. I went amiss for a year or two in the mid 2000s thinking that there was no chance of this series being revived only to return after having replayed the classics again. It's the only fan base I've ever returned to post-abanment and cannot say I regret my return.
I've made some great friends here (none of whom I have yet met) but i'm sure if the timing is right it will work out. I've had a few invites but sadly the timing has not been on my side. At all times the fan base has been kind to me and been inclusive of my presence here. It's no wonder that we're playing a brand new Tex Murphy game today.
I'm proud of this fan base and honoured to be thought of a fan of Tex Murphy myself. Thanks everyone

I'll drink to that. Here's to those of us who hung around here longer than any sane person should have. Even when we stopped playing the games, we never stopped talking to each other. Congratulations to all my Tex buddies out there. This is our time.

Under A Killing Moon and 11th Hour were the reason I bought a CD-ROM drive for my PC.
There were not common or used very often then. I remember participating in a Tex Photoshop contest of some sorts here, with ex-employees of the Tex games offering signed memorabilia from the studio. That said, even though I joined in 2007, I have a low post count and never really spent all that much time here... but I still got sent a price! (A signed flyer and a signed double-CD or The Pandora Directive--with one CD missing!
)
Following are what my entries were for said contest.

Well hey, its kind of gone full circle as during the Kickstarter you had the same sensation. So its like old times!joliet_jane wrote:Actually, the excitement over this game has me frazzled now. I'm too stressed out to be happy just yet. I need to be in the right frame of mind.
But I will say, this is the most ENERGIZED I've been in weeks!

I've been in and out, mostly out over the last few years, and can honestly say this is like a huge homecoming. I've missed this feeling of excitement--something to really dive into when I wake up on a day off or push to get another 15 minutes of before crashing at night.
I don't want to think about sequels--I just want to savor this for what it is. I'd love more, and I'd totally contribute to a Kickstarter for it, but just that we got here is saying something huge.
