I need MP3 (Winows Media Player 3). Does it work under Win98SE? If "yes", please, tell me the link, where I could download MP3.

Thanks in advance.

:? Huh?

What do you need? An MP3 file or player?

If it's a player, I use Winamp 2.95 http://www.oldversion.com/download.php? ... b1ba55119e for audio files, and Media Player Classic http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... e_id=84358 for all videos.

On a side note, I'm Melting (yeah yeah, I just realised there is absolutely no way to incorporate your name into a response without sound like an ass! )...

...With Media Player classic, does it take over MP10 if I install it. Caus I like the simplicity of Classic, but want to keep 10 as well. Can I do that?

Thanks,

You need a media player to listen to MP3 Radio Theatre Files...

You should already have one. If you are using windows, go to:

Start Menu > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Windows Media Player

Once in Media Player you simply open the radio theatre file you wish to listen to.

Every PC running running windows comes with Media Player and it is capable of playing MP3 Files (Including Win98 SE).

Cubase, you just uncheck the 'formats' bit of the options menu in WMP (I think) and check the formats you want MPC to play in it's own options menu. The thing I like about MPC is it doesn't hijack all media formats and slow your computer down to a crawl like some software (*cough* Realplayer *cough*) does.
I stopped using WMP at all since v7. Like molasses on a cold day, I tell ya.

Well I guess it depends on your hardware too.

I use MP10 for Audio, and with an Audigy 2 I literally am able to handle pretty much all audio processing with 0-1% CPU usage. Including 5.1.

But then again, I use WinAmp when I need quality from stereo source files. Coupled with the MAD Mp3 decoder (which is able to perform 24/32-bit upscaling) it is heaven for anyone with a decent sound card and set of speakers. It can handle MP3s with amazing clarity. I highly recommend it, it's the way MP3s are meant to sound!

I have an Audigy 2 as well but took it out and replaced it with an AWE32.

...yes, that's what I said.

I've got an ISA slot in my mainboard and wanted to play games in DOS with sound without EMM386 running (some games don't like it). It does everything I need in Windows 2000 as well. I can still use soundfonts and DVDs sound fine as the driver downsamples the audio output to 44khz for the AWE32 to play. Sounds just fine out of my stereo desktop speakers. Unbelievable to think I can play GTA San Andreas and Kings Quest IV using the same card natively.

A 12 year old sound card - that's good innings. Of course I've also got a Roland MT-32 that I still use from time to time (re KQIV), and that's 19 years old this year.

Say, Cub, where can I get the MAD decoder? All I can find is the decoder for Winamp 2 or the MADplayer.

Find it here:

I have searched long and hard for a decent MP3 decoder... and I guarantee you will not find any better than this... it's pretty amazing.

Ok, I thought that was just for Winamp 2. It's version 0.14.2b, and I heard there was a 0.15.2b version out there, but that's not the plug-in. Thanks for the link!

MP3 doesn't stand for Media Player 3. I got the impression from your post that you were thinking that.
What it stands for is pretty irrelevent (although a Google search says it means "MPEG-1 Audio Layer III") and you should be able to play it in any software you have on your computer for playing audio files. if you do have a problem though with some software, then let us know.

You right, Ender. But, please, tell me: Radio Theatre includes only audio, not video?

Yes, only audio.
