Yeah, I saw earlier that Disney was buying out LucasFilm.
I wonder which actors have signed up. There was always talk of it being a 9 part story with episodes 7-9.

I wonder if:

- We'll get remasters of the Original Trilogy (pre-special edition)

- An official release of the Holiday Special

I can see Mark Hamill returning to the franchise in a smaller role or even as an Obiwan type character. He seems to still have a lot of love for the franchise. But I definitely wouldn't expect Carrie or Harrison to return. Billy Dee Williams would be awesome though.
I hope its a good thing as long current Lucas film guys who are still in current position does all the special effects and so forth since first SW1 in 1978. I hope Episode 7 continues from 6. I think Mark Hamill and all the cast should come back like Episode 7 take place 20 yrs later or something. A thought but if they cant then maybe a younger generation that look alike of younger version of Mark, Harris, Carrie, etc. of today. Maybe I should become Disney shareholder and buy stocks.

You'll need to buy a lot of stock.
I do not know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

On one hand Disney makes crappy made for DVDs movies.

On the other hand their other non-kiddie movies are big blockbusters.

If they make new Star Wars movies, they'd better be using their A-team or they will have a huge hoard of angry nerds and geeks pissed off at them.

Makes sense I guess since they've always had some ties considering the Star Wars themed areas and rides in Disney theme parks.

I think some tend to think of "Disney" as a singular big studio making kids films but of course they have a lot of different studios and factions that produce different content. Plus with the leader of Pixar having taken over the main running of Disney last I heard, its possible they'll make something with a wide appeal. Of course it remains to be seen though how different it will be. I personally didn't really enjoy the Prologue trilogy though (no offence to anyone who loved it, its all subjective after all), so I guess any change in direction from that will be a plus for me.

It'd be nice, though perhaps not likely, if they used more old style effects like puppets and animatronics mixed with CGI, since Disney also own Jim Henson properties (and therefore I think Creature Workshop). The plans for a Dark Crystal sequel with a lot of puppets/animatronics etc. mixed with CGI fell through though, so perhaps they won't budget for it. Naturally it will never have the feel of the original trilogy since cinema has changed a lot since then, but more real-world special effects might be a nice touch.

Harrison Ford hasn't shown much love for the franchise over the years, so it is highly unlikely he will return, regardless of the money... If anything they'll either just not include him or they'll have him killed in the opening credits, without really showing him {aka the Falcon will be destroyed in some sort of opening space battle without actually showing Ford at the helm}, but then they will insinuate that he was piloting thus killing the beloved pirate, while having Chewy off on land somewhere {if they intend to bring him back, otherwise they'll have him on the ship as well}...
While talking about Ford, I'm kind of interested to see what Disney does with the Indian Jones Series... Will they go forth with part 5 or will they kill it???

Mark on the other hand, yes he loved the Star Wars movies and I think he would return in a Yoda/Windu role, since he is/was the Last remaining Jedi, it is up to him to rebuild the Jedi Order...
As for Fisher, I think she would return... She can't get much else and I'm sure Disney would throw a few bucks her way to persuade her... The new Republic would need a Leader and she would be the prime candidate after all...

The Robots of course would come back... I think R2D2 is a bigger icon for the show than even Yoda or Darth Vader...
Lets not forget either, that Some Jedi, such as Yoda and others have learned to come back from the other side... So a Yoda return wouldn't be entirely unheard of, he would just be in that ghostly form we saw at the end of Return Of The Jedi... In fact if they go with the Luke as the head of the Jedi Order, then I would almost expect some sort of guidance from Yoda and/or Obiwan, as well as his father...

I'm more concerned with the Story/Plot than characters at this point... I mean the Sith is destroyed, the Emperor dead, the Empire beaten... Is Disney just going to create a new Sith and rise to power from the ashes???
Are there really 3 more Novels that never came to light??? I know I heard the stories of a 9 part series as well... I'm just trying to wrap my mind around where the story could go at this point...

Guess we'll just have to sit and wait while Disney works all their details out... Here's another Article for anyone interested...

I can't imagine Disney doing any worse than George Lucas himself did on the last 3 movies.

They also took control of the Indiana Jones franchise, to which I also ask, "can it get any worse?" For God's sake we almost got a Shia Labouef (or however you spell it) spin-off. Horrible stuff. Lucas has done all the fans a favor by getting the hell out of these franchises.

I'm honestly happy that he's not involved anymore.

Not saying it's going to get better, just saying it can't get any worse.

Shia's career started with Disney shows ;)
