A chat room has been created on IRC for Tex fans to gather and discuss the latest Kickstarter activity in real time! Point your favorite IRC client to the #texmurphy channel on EFNet and join the conversation!

As well as IRC clients you can also go to http://chat.efnet.org/
Enter your nickname and select Channel: Other
Then put #texmurphy in the popup box.
Then click Login.

Logged in today and as no one else was in the room, it automatically gave me ops. Anyone with a solid connection (mine goes in and out unfortunately) that can idle in there and I can give ops to so we can always have someone with it to change the topic and what not?

EDIT: And so we can have a real presence on IRC so we can get people interested and coming there to chat. We can make plans much quicker for whatever using real-time, live chat.

Ok, so I've done a little research and it looks like for $3.50/month I can host a bot to sit in #texmurphy to idle and do basic commands like give people ops and make sure no one tries to spam and that kind of stuff. Anyways, I can totally swing that and it'd be nice to have a dedicated place to chat, so I'm gonna get on this and make it happen. Hooray!

Sorry for taking so long on this. I had to run out of town for a couple of days--I'm actually still out of town on my iPad with keyboard case and hotel internet. I have been contacted back by a solid company that will host the bot and it should be there soon. I'll just need to have the chanel completely empty for a few minutes when that happens so the bot automatically gets ops and then it will idle there forever.

Chat room seems to be down. It won't let me join for some reason. Anyone else able to get on right now?

I usually lurk; it's been up all day for me. It's up right now too.

Mind you, I switched away from the web client to mIRC.
