Kickstarter Rewards?

Is there a thread on this yet? Sure seems like there should be.

How much to have dinner with CJ and AC? $500?

And how much (assuming you provide your own airfare) for a small part in the game? $2,000? More?

What do you think the goal is going to have to be? Is $400,000 enough? I hate to be a skeptic, but I'm not sure this small but extremely passionate base has that kind of bread and I'm not sure how many people outside of this fanbase are going to care enough to donate.

I'm guessing $50 will get you a copy of the game upon release. $75 will get you the soundtrack and maybe a making of DVD. $100 access to private blog during the making of the game. $200 to be a beta tester. $10,000 and get a producer credit?

T-shirts? Signed pictures of CJ? Personalized signed photo from CJ. Personal thanks in the credits?

What else is there?

Get to be Chris Jones' adopted son for about 12 hours and accidentally make promises to the Tex Murphy fanbase that aren't kept?

Priceless.

large print that you could frame of your favourite screen shot of the game, EG meeting the black arrow killer on the roof, or maybe a small collection of scenes from each game. I think it would look pretty cool under glass

For all rewards, let’s assume you get all of the previous tiers as well. So if you pledge $50, you’ll be getting Fedora and all previous reward tiers. Reward prices are also up for debate, as well as the contents, but these are just some ideas…

$1: A special thank you e-mail from Tex Murphy himself and all Tex Murphy GOG soundtracks
$5: A copy of UAKM on GOG and the UAKM e-novel
$10: A copy of TPD on GOG and TPD e-novel
$15: A copy of Overseer on GOG and both e-novels
$20: MS & MM on GOG and two printed novels
$30: All 5 Games AND e-books of the Under A Killing Moon, and The Pandora Directive novels
$45: A printed copy and e-book of the NEW Tex Murphy novel, and printed other 2 novels
$50: Fedora: A digital edition of the full game
$60: The rare and limited DVD version of Tex Murphy: Overseer
$70: The rare and limited Overseer soundtrack on CD, and Fedora Soundtrack on CD
$80: A making of Fedora DVD
$100: An access code to play a pre-release version of the Day One demo of Fedora
$110: Your name in the special thanks part of the credits
$125: A boxed copy of the DVD edition of Fedora
$150: Shrink-wrapped and boxed versions of the Tex Murphy games
$175: A 2x3 feet poster collage of high-res Tex Murphy scenes
$200: Your name somewhere in one of the game’s inventory items (newspaper, etc.)
$250: Content of an optional game puzzle decided by you (for example, being able to decide what one of the crossword puzzle questions is for that crossword puzzle in the Ritz lobby of TPD)
$500: A humorous tourist map of the Chandler Avenue area with funny icons and descriptions
$750: An hour long personal video or mic chat on Skype with Chris Jones and Aaron Conners
$1,000: An invitation to be an extra in one of the FMV scenes
$3,000: A Tex Murphy wardrobe
$5,000: Dinner with Aaron Conners and Chris Jones
$10,000: Dinner with Chris, Aaron, Doug Vandergrift, and Suzanne Barnes
$15,000: Dinner with the above people dressed as their in-game characters
$20,000: The Roswell UFO alien from Pandora (seen in recent photos)
$22,500: An invitation to watch the FMV scenes being developed
$25,000: An invitation to tour the offices of Big Finish Games, and watch the game get developed
$30,000: A replica of the crystal bird statuette from UAKM. Notice how it’s $30,000? :-)
$31,000: The crystal bird shipped to your home (in case you forget about it and leave it in your car with the windows down and someone steals it, and then beats you)
$75,000: One of the TruGolf golf simulators
$100,000: 1% of any profit that Fedora may make after release
$250,000: All props that were used for all of the previous Tex games
$300,000: 2% of any profit that Fedora may make after release
$500,000: 3% of any profit that Fedora may make after release
$900,000: 4% of any profit that Fedora may make after release
$1,000,000: The Pandora Device, complete with holographic videos and holographic dating capabilities
$1,000,000,000: Tex Murphy’s speeder, which can actually fly
$1,000,000,000,000: A to-scale replica of the Moon Child floating in space, accessible only by you and complete with the Broken Skull Lounge

Obviously, a few of those are jokes, but many are more serious. :-)

Maybe Under A Killing Moon should be free to purchase for a few days on GOG? Broken Sword 1 was free for a few days on GOG, as well as a few other games, including the first 2 Tex games. But UAKM would be better to introduce people to Tex. If this happens, we should get an advanced warning, so that we have time to inform the entire Internet.

why there are already two of you, who think digital copy of the new Tex Murphy game should really be $50, when the same copies of Double Fine`s Adventure and Wasteland 2 cost only $15?

I would like somthing signed.. and somthing physical.. like a DVD box set or somthing with a poster that was signed by the whole team or somthing like the Dubble fine 250$ offer. Or even a signed fedora or somthing would be cool :D seeing that there were a lot more willing to just pay 15$ or 30$ on Dubble fine's kickstart then 50+ there should be somthing like that :D whould be cool if we got some kind of video from the project as well :P to see whats happening backstage :D

Maybe $50 is too much for the casual kickstarter contributor, but I don't want a $15 game. Would I like to pay $15 for a $50 game? You bet! But good things cost money.

I agree. Tex Murphy games are of at least $50 quality. And since the game will probably be sold digitally, or possibly on Steam, the price would drop over the course of a year, and there would probably be huge sales. So someone that waits 3 or 4 months to buy the game might only pay $30 or $40. And someone that waits for a sale might get it for $15. However, the true Tex fans would pay $50 or more to play it at launch.

I would like to see an personal voice mail message from Tex as one of the incentives. Cause I know that whatever price it would be, I would pay it in a heart beat.

Everything I had thought of has been posted by Texstarter already! I wonder though if you donated enough and were invited to be an extra in the game, maybe you could tell em what your character should look like? I have been growing my hair out for some time now and its past my chin so I was thinking maybe a cyber punk from the future with a HUGE mohawk. Maybe that would be more money. Or if you pay extra when you get there, you could get some awesome makeup and become a mutant! Awesome.

Rusty the Clown T-shirts! or even better, Rusty the Clowns adult pop-up book! LOL A signed can of Tex's famous dog food. Maybe a recipe for Louie's special Armageddon chili? Maybe have them create some actual puzzle boxes like the ones on The Pandora Directive and have the actual game inside? The possibilities are endless!!

I would love a can of Eat the Rich dog food. Or a Rusty the Clown pop-up book. Or a bottle of cheap Tex Murphy bourbon, branded with his name and logo, similar to the Duke Nukem steroids: http://blog.geeksaresexytech.netdna-cdn ... 9/duke.jpg

I think there should be a series of “watch us produce this game” videos open only to backers. This shouldn’t be to the scale of what 2 Player Productions is doing with Double Fine, since practically all of the Fedora Kickstarter money should be used to help fund the game, but I think it would definably encourage people to fund if they could watch the new Tex Murphy game get developed. I think this was a HUGE part of Double Fine’s success!

Since the game is going to have FMV, all of the cameras are already ready to be used at the Big Finish offices, so everything could be done in-house. These production videos wouldn’t even need to be high quality. I’m sure many would donate more money just to see them, even if they had shaky footage, sloppy editing, and a lack of flow. This lack of quality would be acceptable, since 98% of the time at the studio would still be used for actually making the game.

The Tex's bourbon idea was great! The behind the scenes footage would be a good idea as well. Maybe have different themed ones like bloopers or just a funny one, then a serious one talking about how this game will be different from the others, or just a video on the general production of the game. Either way they're gonna need as much help as they can get! Brainstorming never hurts

I just thought of a good one. Everyone knows and has possibly been startled by the fax machine in Tex's office. They could offer an audio download for the more hardcore fans that has an altered version of this.
YOU HAVE A TEXT.

If you haven't already send your incentive ideas, testimonials, suggestions and other thoughts in via the Big Finish site. They have a special category for Project Fedora Kickstarter emails. Already mailed mine :D

These were mine (some may be crazy and not possible but thought I'd get creative):
- Appearing in the credits is something I've seen a lot of Kickstarters use for some of the higher donations, sometimes with a special title for a very high donation. Though not all want their name publically shown so some may prefer a nickname.

- Getting exclusive content or bonus footage not used (deleted scenes etc.) in previous games (if any exist) and/or the new game.

- Special recorded messages.

- Gag reels and outtakes for past games if any still exist and/or the new game.

- Perhaps a copy of the original script with notes on revisions, changes in dialogue etc. PDF for lower donations and maybe printed copy for higher donations. Could also be done for past games if possible.

- Maybe a booklet showing the development of the concept with notes, doodles, etc. For example there was a booklet printed in the style of a 'faux' notepad with pages of Jim Henson's original concept notes and doodles for the creation of Fraggle Rock with the first DVD release. But again lower donations could just receive a PDF. Could be for past games too if anything still exists or just for the new game.

- Artbook with concept art, promotional materials etc. For both the old games if stuff still exists or just the new game. PDF or printed copy dependant on donation level maybe.

- A complete copy of the PI Rules book that Tex Murphy used. I can't remember if there was ever a full set of rules, I'm guessing not, but just as a fun little extra the rest of the rules could be created, with a note about which rules were added more recently in a foreword perhaps. PDF version for small donations and printed version (in the style of an old heavily used book) for higher donations.

- A plush toy of Tex Murphy or one where you press its hand and it says some phrases.

- Action figure with an amazing "accidentally fling your gun away" action.

- Collectible statue figurine of Tex Murphy or a scene from the games.

- Tex Murphy board game where you move around Chandler Avenue.

- Collectible Tex Murphy card game set for fun.

- High quality soundtrack CD, maybe with bonus or unused tracks? Digital download version for low donations.

- Autographed stuff.

- Keychain gadget that plays Tex Murphy quotes. Google "Sound Drop Keychains" for inspiration.

- Printed copies of past Tex Murphy novels. Under a Killing Moon is now very rare for some reason. With people charging £95+ on Amazon.co.uk for a Used copy of the book... If the new game is getting a novel edition this could be included.

- "Making Of" DVD with behind the scenes footage of production of the game. Another tier could be for photos of backstage production.

- T-shirts, posters, laminated posters, wall scrolls, mugs, badges, stickers, bags etc.

- Authentic Tex Murphy style fedora and coat.

- Invitation to come see the behind the scenes production, filming etc. of the new game for a day.

- Appearance as an "extra" (if there will be any) in the background.

- Meetup with the creators and actors.

- Tex Murphy finger puppets, could be cute and funny.

- Origami / papercraft set or pop-up book of Chandler Avenue set. See Robert Sabuda's books for inspiration (e.g. Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland) clips on youtube.

- Receiving a special box edition of the game. Some Tex Murphy veterans mention a unique box which had a blinking light at the top of one of the buildings on the cover which did not come with all editions (I think it was Tex Murphy Overseer?). Packaging for games is usually not thought of much these days and I know some collect old game boxes that have a unique style with 3D protusions or holographic backgrounds. Collectible DVD tins or special boxes seem to be popular etc. There are some really strange ones like the Planet of the Apes Ultimate Collection with an Ape Head bust... (it looked creepy to me though!). The Superman special collection had a neat holograph animation of Superman flying and smashing through the logo.

- The hint system was really good in the old games so hopefully the new one will also have a good hint system. So a guide book may not be a incentive but a "secrets" book could offer something if there are going to be any easter eggs in the new game (I believe there was 1 or 2 in previous games).
