Hey folks... I managed to get Grim Fandango working on my machine at last (don't ask me how, it just happened!)... but after a little while I found out that part of my CD 1 is corroded due to old age!.... CD 2 is fine.
Does anybody have a copy of CD 1 of Grim Fandango they could make me a copy of... or better yet, make a disc image of and host it online?
Many thanks in advance!

I ordered a copy of it off of ebay, some time back, I posted about it then. Guess what, it never came. So, I'm in the same boat as you cub, but I have no working cds

I used to have it a long time ago but silly me I sold it (back when I had to sell games to afford new ones). But I managed to get a second-hand copy some time ago, from a second-hand games store. No cover/manual but the important things are the CDs itself I guess.

Matter of fact, I just got a copy a week or so ago. The problem is, in regards to computers and making them do stuff, for the most part I'm a noob. Maybe if you came over, installed all the necessary programs, ran them, posted online, then went back home to download it, then that might work. A little illogical, but it might work.

And a very good game it is too.
BTW, Aaron's interview said that the real death knell for adventure games was the lack of success of this game. I remember the publicity but didn't buy it back then, not because I didn't want it, but because there were so many bad adventure games coming out, and I think I'd just bought monkey island 3, which is a big seller and had just come out before that.
I think timing of releases has as much to do with the market as the content.

Just bought this cheap and new/sealed

Glad to have it totally complete with artwork and manual etc. again instead of just the CDs (that may seem silly to some, it must be the completist in me...). I never did finish this game! Must do so sometime *has no time*

I bought many adventure games in the 90's (the adventure game heyday?), and I must say that Grim Fandango was one of my favorites.
Or did it come out after 2000? Ah, who cares. It's still a great, original, entertaining game.
I remember a thread about "favorite adventure games." I didn't respond to that one, but it makes me think back. . .
Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order (except the top one!)
Tex Murphy games
Grim Fandango
Sanitarium
Myst series (ok, they may be puzzle games, but I liked 'em)
Morpheus
Obsidian
The Monkey Island series
Black Dahlia (a poor ending, but I liked it anyway)
There are others, but I just can't seem to think of them right now. . .
