Screw Tex! We have LA Noire!

Just kidding.

But anyway, I just played a few minutes of LA Noire (PS3), read a few reviews and talked to some buddies who played it also.

Folks, this is as close to an old style adventure that any major studio is going to produce. It's slow paced (just make sure you turn off the vibration option when your near crime scene evidence) and it's NOT going over well with the Call of Duty crowd.

Anyway, it's good but I have a feeling it may not be the financial blockbuster that Rockstar was expecting.
Boo! Hiss!

Now that I've responded to your choice of topic headline, I'll go ahead and say

Boo! Hiss!

I'm not getting the game until friday :(

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
It looks really good. I just can't afford to buy full priced games anymore ><

The posters do look good but I must admit of the last three games I bought, I've only played the one, and that was 3 Cards to Dead Time. Didn't watch any more than the introduction of Back to the Future and still on the Second part of Tales of Monkey Island

JB has it for $78 on PS3 and Xbox, EB is like $110... what a rip. I'm getting mine from JB.

gotta support the local tallent- especially because Team Bondi don't treat their employees so good, I just hope that changes with success. Its great to see Australian devs giving the market something new.

Got a lot of games to play now, just bought Witcher 2.. could be better, but its enjoyable.
I don't know when I'll find time to play it, but I think I am going to buy it. I am still in the midst of Fallout: New Vegas, and at my 1-2 hours of playing per week may be for quite some time. But, I'll put L.A. Noire as the next on my list.
read a rewiew of it just now and i liked it, think its a buy for me, though when it comes to PS3 games i have a really bad attitude, i play a game for some days but allmost never finish them :S still got som $#it to do in read dead, but il try to play this one to the end. hehe why dont Big Finish Games colaborate with Rockstar :D that would be great :D
This is the first game I bought on the day it came out since Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis in 1992!

So that should give you an idea of how excited I was to get it.

Sadly that's out of my price range. What i've been doing the last year is waiting till a game drops below 20 pounds on http://www.zavvi.com and importing it for about $30 - $35 AU.

It can take a while for certain titles to do that though. For instance, i only aquired Civilization 5 last month and Red Dead Redemption just hit that mark.

I picked it up and played it for about an hour and so far am liking it. My main complaint would be how disjointed the story is. Transitions from one case to the next aren't the most seamless. Also, considering the time and energy spent on talking about it's amazing facial recognition technology, it's easy to tell when someone's lying. It's like this.

Cop: "Did you kill that man?"

Suspect: "No..."

And then the suspect starts blinking uncontrollably, tilts his head in all directions and appears to be trying to look at everything but you. Talking about the subtleties of human expression gets lost amongst Rockstar's attempt to make sure every player is on top of their game.

lol, yes. At first I thought my game glitched, after the tutorial case, I thought I would return to the station and get congratulated or at least drop some jaws at how we solved it being just beat cops sent to look for a murder weapon. But instead it just skipped to the beginning of the next case, but I have to say, they did a really nice job with the game as a whole.

My only complaint is that other than for chases, the open world is kind of wasted, you have this huge map painstakingly crafted to be just like L.A. from 1947, yet you never really are given a reason to use it other than for collectibles.

It reminds me of a mix between the Police Quest 1 VGA remake and Police Quest IV: Open Season. It's about just as linear too. In both L.A. Noire and Police Quest 1 you can drive around, and stop random crimes, but the only time you really do anything of substance is on the cases, which are great anyways. I love it, and it's a great addition to my Detective Game collection.

Sounds like a big opportunity for a DLC then?

We have EB, and their used game prices are usually only $5 off or so on titles such as this =/

It's getting good reviews but if the gamer population at large aren't into it, the price should drop soon.

Curse it, I have exams! I keep passing this in the shop, I have more than enough money to buy it but I have to stay focused for the next two weeks :( Student life sucks!
