So I asked her to marry me...
...and she said yes! Last night!
I had decided to do something special with Mel in celebration of the Chinese new year, the year of the Rabbit. Mel was also born in the year of the Rabbit, so it's quite fitting.
Anyway, I had ordered a copy of the book 'Watership Down' (some of you might have read it before? One of my favs, a great story and it's about Rabbits too, haha) and intended on giving it to her as a special new year gift, but it came with a twist...
I had cooked up a nice dinner and we were sitting on the balcony at home enjoying the twilight and a chicken meal which did not go according to plan (I am no culinary genius), and after we had finished I told her I got her a special Chinese new year gift. I go and get the book which I have wrapped up rather nicely (was proud of that), and handed it to her. I had actually written an inscription inside the front cover which was a couple of paragraphs of loved-dovey stuff, and at the end it asks her if she would marry me. While she started reading the inscription I stood behind her, then when she reached the end of the inscription " she took the book down, looked over and there I was in front of her on one knee and with a ring in hand.
Mel is now my Fiancé!

Congratulations to you both! I'm very happy for the both of yous!
I was born in the year of the dog. My element is water. Which is interesting, because I'm also a leo. Funnily enough, I'm also in near constant conflict with myself. Strange, isn't it?
Let us know when you guys decide on a wedding date, eh?

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
What a great story and it couldn't have happened to a better guy...and gal. Like Gary, my wife and I have been married for many years and wouldn't trade it for anything. Best to you both.
BTW, I'm........an old guy. Couldn't tell you the year.
