Are any of our cousins down under affected by these Floods??? Our news is reporting one area that is bigger than our entire state of Texas, that's a lot of area to be flooded...

Just wondering how close some of you might be to the areas under water... Not a good way to start the New Year for sure...

floods are in queensland & I don't think we have any queenslanders here.

if you have seen pictures maybe you might also have seen the type of houses they build up there, they are all high above the ground due to flooding.

Our news doesn't believe in showing things like that... lol
We only see the cars submerged under water and the roads covered and whatnot... But when I did a search the pictures I found showed people playing and having a good old time... We get floods here you see people crying and talking about how they lost everything and didn't get flood insurance because they never thought it would happen to them...

Like you said, the pictures I found on the net showed people that are use to that kind of stuff... Even if it is the worst it has been in almost a century {according to our news reports anyway}...


America Loves Drama, even if it isn't our own... Drama Sells and boosts ratings...


I remember a report I saw several months ago about a soldier from Afghanistan... The report when on and on about how he was Injured in combat, but there were no details at this time and they showed pictures of him with a leg brace on and walking with a cane, even showed him in a wheelchair once...
Another program interviewed him and this is basically what he said:

"I was hungry and I was running for the mess hall and dodge away from running over a Captain and slammed my knee into a table."

Injured in Combat for sure...
But like I said, that's the news for you... The news never commented about it again and never had a followup story that I saw...

Floods are bad in Queensland at the moment. We are on holidays up here and the town we were at not 3 days ago is now underwater. Gotten trapped a few times in the car due to road closures and flooding and have not been able to see relatives as the roads into many of the towns in which they live are underwater. Pretty much scared to go anywhere now because we might not be able to get back. Otherwise this holiday has been a blast so far. Will post up some pics when I get back. They tell a thousand words about whats been going on up here.

Don't get trapped by the Floods, but have a good time on your remaining holiday...

The road outside our house at the moment is a river. Towns to the north, south and west of us are flooded. Going to get worse with the rain not letting up and dumping over 100mm per hour. We are stuck in town at the moment and looks as if we won't be getting home any time soon. We are safe or now, will be staying put as trying to drive anywhere will see us stuck in water. And they call this the sunshine coast! HA!

Now that's a Car-Pile-Up... Insurance Companies are going to love this... If they are anything like US Insurance Companies they'll do their best to find a loophole so they don't have to pay...

Just crazy... Mother nature showing us we ain't that big after all...

big problems now, brisbane river banks have burst. Cub, Don't know where you are staying but you may be having an extended holiday.

I have a friend up in rural NSW who is very close to the area. Apparently her town (for now) is effectively an island because it's surrounded by this massive body of water. Some of the images on the news i'm seeing are like i've never seen. Brisbane (a metropolitan city in Queensland) has water running right through the CBD. Strangely enough, as bad as it is, the media claim it's still not as bad as the 1974 floods though it is getting there.

You good people down yonder must really be careful. Water is a force of nature that rages out of control from time to time and safety should be your first concern.

Australia must of did something wrong to upset Mother Nature severely to cause bad Flood in the country in NE.

All you Aussie living there know if there a good reasons why you guys getting bad Flood b/c thats some serious Flood you got going now? I was looking at the Youtube clip of Flood in Australia and I thought part of the Queenland in Australia was wipe out of exist in mix region as thats look like a change the shape of the Australia land with all that water.

all that water take forever to dry out or that staying permanently if the water is too deep in regions of Queenland?
