Strategy game lovers take heart, Civ is back!

For any of you who play good old strategy games the newest installment of Civilization just was released yesterday.

So far it looks pretty good. I wont know for sure until I come out of hybernation from my gameroom sometime in spring.
I haven't played a civ game since the original, but i lost way too much time on that game.

I'm scared what the new one might be like.
I prefer "Sid Meier:Civilization"(original), McDonis. I played for Russians, but don't accepted "Stalin" name and entered my own, on toughest level (Emperor) with 7 civilizatons. I built all 21 Wonders, built and launched spacecraft to Alpha-Centaura with maximum colonists (40.000), my Palace was completed. I got all 1500 score and was titled "Solomon the Wise". After my spacecraft landed on Alpha-Centaura, I continued the game and destroyed last civilization (Englishmen). The game was over. Whole Earth was mine.

my funniest civ story was one game where i got to the year 2000 and hadn't even discovered the law of gravity yet.

Civ4 is buggier than a Louisiana picnic. I'm writing up the massive list of problems now, but it turned a friend's language settings to SWEDISH. It's just... a mess.

Also, my language tree was printed in French and my Play Disc is labeled as the Install Disc.

Hehe
Just throw some apples at their heads

I really liked Populous: The Beginning :D (Bullfrog were so good, also loved the Theme games )
(Ruri_Ayanami from the old Tex Murphy ezboard).

Yep it appears that folks with newer systems are having more troubles with it than those of us who have older ones. Go figure?

I did read on a civ site that a lot of folks had that problem with their maps. I think Firaxis is offering a mail back program to replace them. You might want to check back with the main Civ site in a few days.

Also the first work-around (perhaps a patch) is scheduled for today I believe. Firaxis is working franticly (according to one site I read) to get the issues resolved.

I can understand why you wouldnt want to play as stalin. I think in Civ 4 you can play as Catheryn the Great. I dont think Stalin is an option in this version.
Catheryn the Great? I respect her. Smart girl. Like Elizabeth the First (English queen). But J.Stalin was massacrer and real bastard. I HATE him.

Well, there is one simple solution to all these problems...

...buy Age of Empires III.

-Cub. =o)
Hello, Cubase!
Did you play "Age of Empires", "Age of Empires:Rise of the Rome", "Age of Empires II: Age of the Kings" and "Age of Empires II: The Conquerors" ?
Truly yours,

For some reason when I play Civ, it always seems to come down to me and the Russians going head to head.
