hey guys, im trying to run the overseer dvd on windows 7. I have installed the update, RSX and DVDexpress. ive also tried compatibility modes for windows 95 and 98\ME but the problem is the same. i start the game and see the access software logo video and the game crashes with a "overseer.exe has stopped working" message. anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I really wouldn't bother if I were you... It's extremely hard to get the DVD Version to run smoothly... I think it has only been done maybe a handful of times...

If 10 bucks isn't a stretch for you, I would just recommend downloading Overseer from GOG and play it that way...
Yes I understand the Video is a little graining compared to the DVD, but that's really the only thing that is different...

I think Plumgas has tried to get the Overseer DVD to run and ran into many problems.

if you have the cd's download the installer & follow instructions for vista & then burn the files to dvd. Install from dvd.

this is the best solution for playing overseer, forget the dvd.

if you haven't got the cd's download the game from gog.

i have extensively polked around with overseer and windows 7 and i have came to the conclusion that while the actual game runs well, the mpeg2 decoder dosent play well with the new version of windows. an alternate decoder would be needed to play the game with the visual sequences. there are instructions on downloading a different decoder but i fail to recall where they are.

you could run a virtual box with 98 or xp and play it that way.
