Gabriel Knight

Any other Gabriel Knight fans out there?

I never played through GK 3 in its entirety before, going through it right now and it is pretty well-done, although what originally turned me off was it seemed like a step backward to go to (what was at the time) primitive 3-D polygons instead of sticking with FMV.

Regardless, the stories for all three are fabulous!!!

Just thought I'd mention that GK 3 came out 4 years before Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, and the story is even better than Dan Brown could dream up.

GK 2 is probably my favorite so far, though (although GK 3 is beginning to grow on me as I get further in the game). GK 2 has an *original* Opera aria, written just for the game. I can't think of any other game that can make such a claim. And it fits in with the rest quite well! Ludwig, Wagner...take a couple of loony artistic geniuses from history and tie them together with the story in a flawless manner.

And GK 1...wow! Voodoo makes a fabulous mystery scene.

For anyone who just wants to hear the story without the adventuring, I know that GK 2 at least is on YouTube in Long Play form. If you want to actually play them, all three are recent additions to GoG...enjoy!!! :) These come very highly recommended.

There are several GK fans here... A good group of games to be sure... Definitely a credit to the Adventure Genre...

Jane Jensen's Gray Matter is suppose to be released in May of this year... Just a little behind schedule, just a little... But I'm sure it will be worth the wait, just as will the new Tex game when it gets made and released...

The Screen shots of Gray Matter are awesome to say the least...

Yeah, i love the GK series (1 and 3 are my favourites). After reading the Da Vinci Code i wondered where i had heard that story before, and i remembered that i had finished GK3 the year before.

No vampires though, that's what Dan Brown was lacking.

As for Gray Matter, i'll believe it when i see it on the shelves :)

I have GK2, gog has the all for download, I have never played GK3 but I don't think I want to play that one.

I am hanging out for gray matter, I read a post from a betta tester & they say we will not be disappointed.

Gray Matter is set to release in May, on the 21st I believe is the day...

I don't think they'll pull the carpet out from under us this time... Going to be a Hot Item for the first couple of months to be sure...
I'm pretty sure that's just the EU release date though... Not sure when the States or elsewhere like Australia will be getting it...

Get Ingmar {Jack Vanian here on the boards} up in here, he'll know for sure... He Interviewed Jane Jensen last year, in London I believe... He is the Go-To Guy for information on Gray Matter and/or Jane Jensen...

Never played any of them. In fact I haven't played too many adventure games outside of Tex.

Releasing any game on may 21st this year is a goddamn bad idea. Everybody will be spending their money on Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption.

That's free marketing advice if anybody can get in contact with the Gray Matter team.

You can expect a big news update soon (and I'm pretty sure that the mentioned update will include a concrete release date). The game will definitely be out in 2010(!!) and is on a good way, do not expect it in May, though, because that's surely not gonna happen.

I'll get back as soon as there is something official to say...

In the meantime you can check out some opinions of people who were part of a Gray Matter feedback group a couple of months back. People aren't aloud to talk about it in detail since everyone had to sign a NDA but it might be interesting anyhow. I can't link directly to the particular thread on the message board of the unofficial Gray Matter fanpage, but you just have to look for the thread: "Talking about your beta participation allowed" http://cort-x.fwheel.net/

Here is the update I was referring to:

Parallel to a press conference in Oxford, where the new version of Gray Matter has been presented to the press, and where the Xbox 360 version was officially confirmed, a new website can now be found on the web. Then there's tons of screenshots from the new (Wizarbox) version of the game.

website:
http://www.graymatter-game.com/ (When you access the main part of the page you can change the language to English via a button on the upper right).

screenshots (the first 3 screenshots are still out of an older version):
