Unofficial Tex Murphy

But I was reading some of the old posts, and some responses that Aaron had on some of the questions ...

And I hereby propose, that if I ever win the powerball lottery (And I'm a sucker that plays A-LOT), I swear to this community that I will use a portion of my winnings to refinace the next Tex Murphy installments.

I only say this, because strangely enough, I had a dream the other night where I *did* hit the lottery, and I was all over the news because I was being labeled as the eccentric millionaire who was financing the risky venture of putting out the next three installments of Tex Murphy in the FMV format, that to the video game industry was essentially dead. Heh, great dream. Strangely, that dream ended up with me falling off a cliff, being chased by seagulls, but hey my dreams never seem to hold any storyline for long, and ends like that alot strangely.

Just goes to show you that dreams can be so wonderful sometimes. Of course I would want an acting part in the game, my name in the credits, and a portion of the earnings. Aaron would be lead designer, and have full say so on the project, and would earn top dollar. Chris would be paid as if he were "Jack Nicholson", and all the other regular "Tex" actors would be invited back with the promise of hefty salaries, and a paycheck advance. I'd finance the new venture, and the name of the company would be "Tex Murphy Games Inc." This of course would happen after I purchased the rights for the Tex name, and game universe.

Oh yeah, and I want my own personal glorified trailer, full say so over the finished products release , and a never ending supply of doritos and Mt. Dew for the development crew, as well as a Friday Night bowling night, with all the bourbon you can drink to boost morale. Also, the game would not have a development time deadline. The game would be released when it was finished, and no release date would be set until it was completed. Real live movie studios and props technicians would be hired to produce the ingame movie atmosphere, and good ole Adrian would direct. And last but definitly not least, every member of this message board would be mailed plane tickets to attend the unveiling and launch of the game, which will be a celebrity gala, with punch and pie. All guests will leave with a copy of the new game, signed by the cast and crew, and will enjoy a week long stay in California, where they will enjoy a five star hotel experience, fine dining, and participate in the weekly Friday Night Bowling tournament, with the winner getting a villian part in the next game. Man I hope I win someday. I'm just eccentric enough to pull that off.

I mean after all, I can't take all that money with me ... and if it tanks it tanks, and if it takes off, hooray for Tex!

Actually, I hope your dream (about Tex) comes true.

You know, I had a dream about Tex Murphy last night, too. It wasn't anywhere near as cool as yours. In fact, it was one of those dreams that don't make any sense. Very abstract, and had mostly to do with programming. But still, I woke up thinking about TM.

I'd definitely fund a new game, if I won the lottery. Heck, i'm thinking about working for AC pro bono come next May, when I finish my Mathematics and Computer Science degrees. But, that's probably not an option. Oh well, I guess we can all just bank on Dr Malloy striking it rich.

I've always found it amuzing when having a dream that to me is like...WOW... THAT'D BE SO COOL! Then realize that if anyone else knew I had it I'd feel like a total geek.

See, now if I wasn't a Tex fan I'd consider that dream the geekiest of all. hehe.

My dreams also do the same thing. No real forward motion to them, they're just always turning into other things. Like... I'm on a beach with a girl then she says let's get a pizza or something like that so we end up walking off the beach into Chicago to get what to us is REAL pizza, then I go to the bathroom and that zaps me someplace else which then turns into something else... it's ridiculous trying to follow anythign that goes on in my head.

I also always forget my dreams almost the moment I wake up. It takes me thinking about the dream and only the dream from the moment I wake up to remember anything about them at all. And even then it's not usually very likely.

I had a dream that I got the axe from work... but I soon realised I was not dreaming...

...true story, happened to me this morning.

They were so cold about it; it was effective immediately which meant I could not even go back to say goodbye to anyone, nor collect my things. They will post them to me in the mail.

*Sigh*... oh well, I've never hated bad luck, I see it as a chellenge.

Ouchie. Sorry to hear that Cub. But I believe everything happens for a reason. Hope you get a better job then what you had before. Good luck on finding it.

I hate that for you, Cub! I was jobless for months until about a month ago, so I sort of understand. I sure hope it wasn't because they thought you spent too much time on the unofficialtexmurphy.com messageboard!

But seriously - none of us are too worried about you. You're obviously resourceful enough to come up with another job soon. Prayers and thoughts.

Cub, if push comes to shove we can always take our act back on the road. Or, we can go back to those long nights on the open road delivering ketchup packets. Those were good days, but I thought they'd stay gone

That reminds me of a time I applied for a job. I called a week later, and they told me the position had been filled, and that they only take compatent people.

Hey Cub, join the club.

About a year and a half ago, I had to lay myself off! The technology field my company is in has cut WAY back on research. So contracts are scarce. The only way I could afford to keep my employees working was to lay myself off.

On the other hand, it's been a great opportunity for me. I've had all these ideas bottled up for years and years and never have time to develop them because I've always been too busy doing work for other people. This last year or so has been wonderful in that I can finally spend the time on my own projects.

Of course, it doesn't pay the bills. But that's what working wives are for.

DrPaul, I'm interested in one of these "working wives" do you have a brochure?

No, really, I think I should work on finding a sugar momma; so, I can waste the days away in the beautiful land of apathetica.
