I was playing UAKM last night, and I was at the part where Tex is in the Escort Service Suite, trying to get some dirt on Sal.

Behind one of the pictures on the wall is a piece of paper with a bunch of names on it. When you click on the page, Tex says, "A list of names. All female. Looks like Sal's a regular here at the Love Suite."

Sal's name is not on the sheet, and there is no reason to believe that Sal is the escort service's only customer. So why does this list of female names imply that Sal is a regular at the Love Suite?

I remember the scene you are talking about... I've thought the same thing myself... Maybe there was suppose to be something more on the paper and Tex just stuck to the Script...

No one said that... It's a list of girls, which I assumed were the Working Girls, but Tex says, "Sal Must Be A Regular Here"... That is what is puzzling, because no where does it have Sal's name written on the paper Doc is talking about...

Did Tex get the impression that Sal was the ONLY person to use the Love Suite? Or, maybe he thought Sal was a regular because Frannie new he had been cheating on her for some time? Or, and I really hate to say this, Tex said those words because it's a game and it really doesn't matter? Although, I do enjoy the spirit of such discussions.

I think the Paper was suppose to have more info on it and the Script would have matched up if that was the case and Chris just read the script as it was suppose to be read... Or maybe it was suppose to be a list of all the girls Sal has been with at the Hotel, so therefore since there were so many names, Sal was a Regular and that is what Tex assumed...

Very nice observation, DrPaul, and Bafitis. Now that you come to mention it, it is kind of odd that Tex asserts that the names on the list are escorts that Sal has hired (or are able to hire). I do not recollect that I reacted to this the way DrPaul and Bafitis did. Maybe because it was said by Tex in a context that I now have forgotten, like Jim the old guy suggested, that Tex knew it from Frannie or possibly for some other evidence, like finding a key to the Love Suite with Sal's name on it, or amongst Sal's things, or... Didn't Tex find some things in the "hidden" passageway behind Slice o' Heaven and/or behind the alley of the Pawn Shop?

Possible alternatives:
(1) Sal was the only person that used the Love Suit (suggested by JtOG)
(2) There were something more written on the paper, that he read but did not share with us (Suggested by Bafitis)
(3) Tex had already found (out) something earlier that linked Sal with the room in such a way that he was fairly certain that this was Sal's escorts.
(4) Tex was wrong, that is, his assertion were wrong, but the conclution was right (by luck, or intuition, which he do not claim to have anyway).
(5) There was simply a mismatch between what was said in the game, and what ought to have been said (suggested by JtOG)

My first reaction was that this must simply be (5) generally, or maybe (2) spesifically. But to save face both to the game and the game makers, one could simply say that it is (4). Tex has been wrong before, but gotten it right in the end. As for myself, I believe its (3) or (2).

If I did not have so much work to do right now, I would have played the game just to see if it would shed new light on the problem.

Now this is not too hard to work out. Take the square root of one, divide by zero and add Tex's birthday.

Now remember, what we take with us as we enter a situation, is not necessarily correct. We make assumptions (break the word 'assume' into three parts and it will make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me') and then proceed forward. As we work an issue, we may find our initial idea was not correct.

Is it not possible Tex was (gasp) 'wrong' is his initial reasoning? One of the charming characteristics of the whole series of Tex games has been that Tex succeeds despite his being wrong.

And there was only 1 name on Sal's Note from the Brew & Stew... A number of reasons as to why Tex said what he said with that piece of paper... I will have to play UAKM again and watch the whole Sal episode with an Eagle Eye...

I always thought it was very simple:

Sal is a regular at the hotel love suite. Remember when he got the coded note, it said "we have confirmed your appointment with Chastity at the suite in the Golden Gate Hotel at the usual time. the password today is silicon"... which implies that there have been other days which he has used the suite or has been given a password. Also, the escort service is using the Hotel Suite as part of the package, it is not owned or run by the escort service... they simply book it for their clients.

Now keep in mind that if Sal is a regular of the love suite (and thus the escort service) he would indeed keep a list of his favorite escorts, but he would not be able to keep them with him where he lives (otherwise Fran would find out). So he decided to hide them in the hotel suite (which he frequents). Neither the hotel nor the escort service are aware of the note being there. Its merely a list for Sal to keep track of his favorite escorts in secret when visiting the love suite.

So when Tex sees the list, knowing full well that Sal visits the suite often for the soul purpose of seeing escorts, he deducts that this was a list created by Sal to keep track of his personal favorites. And the reason why he said "Sal must be a regular" is becuase he assumes that for someone to place a list hidden in the hotel it would mean he plans on coming back, and often.

If the Escort Service doesn't own the Hotel why would the Hotel give them permission to install the Electronic Password Keypad???

They keypad is hotel property. When the escort service books a room they are given a password to use it (the same would happen for anyone who books the room)... and then the escort service passes the room code onto the client. Lets use a real-life example of this: if you were a client of a company and were visiting town, the company would book a hotel room and take care of everything for you, so all they have to do is pass the key onto you. Does not mean they own the hotel room, they have just taken care of everything and pass the occupancy onto you for the duration of the booking.
