Bad News :( - The Adventure Gaming Expo has been canceled

I just got a refund on the Adventure Gaming Expo ticket I purchased and this message.

Dear Blair,

Malinche Entertainment Corporation ([email protected]) has issued you a full or partial refund for your payment.

Message from merchant:
Thank you for believing but, alas, Adventure Gaming Expo is not to be.
I was just about to make this topic. What a disappointment. I always knew canceling it was a possibility, but I really didn't think it was gonna happen.

:( Oh no! I was actually going to email my supervisor tomorrow and ask her "Hey, the August schedule hasn't been set yet, will we be busy this one weekend...?"

Maybe if all the hesitant people like me had actually signed up, this wouldn't have happened. *sigh* There's goes my chance to meet Chris without going to Utah and getting arrested...

Did this happen because there's little hope for adventure games, or because plane tickets cost more than they did at Christmas? I'm going to assume the latter!
This got canceled way too soon for it to be because of not enough signups... There has to be another reason... I've emailed the company that was going to be hosting the Expo, so I should have a better answer sometime tomorrow as to why... I've been talking to this guy Howard back and forth for the past couple of weeks, he works for the company that was going to host the Expo, so hopefully he will give me a clearer answer...

I wasn't even going to be able to go. And I'm all pissed off too ...
I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
*Pulls a bunny out of a hat* There you go. Cuddle with this. It helps.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Darn, that sucks...I wasn't going to go, but I was looking forward to all the stories.

They should of given an actual explanation in their message... just think of all the people thinking Huh?? over that one line.

If it really was because of the dwindling Adventure Gaming scene (at least in the US and parts of Europe, dunno about other countries VonGlower said its still kicking in Germany) then that would be even more depressing. I really don't get why the golden age of all those Sierra and LucasArts adventures just up and died.... how can a whole genre just go down the drain like that? A game series ok maybe, but a whole genre spanning different styles and themes? Just doesn't seem fair.

Growing up in the 90s with the Adventure Game boom was great. And its a shame todays generation don't really have any of that.

Michael,

The fan participation just wasn't there. Lots of people said "Sounds cool, I'd love to meet [ fill in name of legend here] " but not nearly enough people actually stepped forward and registered.

I personally don't think they gave this enough time to be advertised properly and given people a chance to come up with the entry fee they were asking for... Something tells me there is more to the Cancelation than just not enough people signing up... But if this is all they'll tell us, then this is what we have to accept, unfortunately...

I think today's teenage generation is missing out on a lot of things. Good news is, out generation will soon be the ones in charge, and who knows; adventure gaming might be in the upcoming state budgets! lol
