Problems with TM: overseer. mouse trails

Version: CD
OS: XP home.

It installed fine, and the start up menu and cinematics work fine but in the “VR environment” when I move the mouse around it leaves cursor trails that don’t go away, the same with the in-game menu. (see pic, the blue thing is my busy mouse cursor, it didn't show up in the game but it did in my SS)

Any help would be appreciated. :)
Go to your Overseer directory, open the Tex.ini file with notepad and change

lockvideo=-1
to
lockvideo=1

Mine was set at 0 I tried 1 and –1, neither worked, it did the same thing only now it froze too. :roll:

any other ideas?
Start the game and go to Config - Preferences - Advanced Preferences, and make sure VR Rendering is set to 'Hardware' and not 'Software'.

Ueed to have that issue... and while I had no idea why it did that, I usually just switched between hardware and software rendering until I got past it, then changed it back.

But of course, Nilo is our resident expert who is almost always spot on with his advice, so trust in Nilo, and not so much my makeshift solutions lol!

I don’t seem to have that option. :shock: (see pic)

I had the same problem! No option for it. Gosh I wish I could remember how I got it to give me that option...

I'm no techie, and I'm probably wrong, but just for kicks...under My Computer, right-click on the drive you're playing the Overseer disc on, while the disc is in the drive. Make sure the "Use DLA" option is unchecked. Then try and see if it gives you the option. I know good and well that that solved one of my Tex-related game problems, and I think this might have been it.

Being that you are using the CD version, you may not have that option. But if you go to the downloads page of my website http://members.cox.net/otepchris/Downloads.html and download the DVD version (following the instructions exactly as written) Overseer will run with your CD version! - And, although DVDExpress is meant to be used with the DVD version, you will still need to install it. Note: Be sure to uninstall your existing Overseer prior to installing the DVD version.

I have tested this method with the CD version and it does work!

That worked! I just unzipped it clicked OVERSEER.EXE and it works like a charm in the options it was already set to hardware.

Thanks a lot, I was beginning to wonder if I’d be able to play TM. :)
……………….
And Jerry Dan I was wondering; it’s unimportant since I got TM to work, but where’s this "Use DLA" I didn’t see it anywhere?
Glad you got it working! I'm not sure but it may have to do with your drive manufacturer's settings as to whether you have the option to select "Use DLA". Irrelevant now, I suppose :lol:
