I don't remember anyone mentioning this in a post before. It seems surprising that no one has, so forgive me if this is not new. . .

. . .but. . .

There actually is a city called Murphy, Texas!

Here's the link: http://www.murphytx.org/home/index.asp

Be sure to check out the "Murphy Messenger."

Enjoy!

Holy peanut butter Batman! Thats like 35 minutes away from where I live. I think I will have to go to this so called Murphy, Texas and write somewhere on a chalkboard "Who is Tex Murphy?" Later.

Now that might be the ideal place for a Tex meet/convention if we ever had one!

Good call, Demonlawyer - and it's right in the middle of the U.S., too.

Is it truly mere coincidence? Could this be the true origin of our hero's name? Has that question ever been asked?

I thought of that, but as I recall, the original name was Tex Mutant or something like that, so that the Murphy part was simply an after-thought. Although, come to think of it, I suppose that naming him after this city could have been what was after-thought-of as well as anything else. I just kinda doubt it.

Yeah, Murphy's a pretty common name and Texas is a pretty big place. It's probably just a coincidence, albiet quite an entertaining one!

Murphy, Texas. Soon-to-be home of the annual Tex Murphy Conventions!

Now all we need is an annual convention!

Ya know how David Letterman has the home office in Wahoo, Nebraska? Well, maybe we should designate Murphy, Texas as our own home office. We could make our own "Top 10" lists "from the home office in Murphy, Texas," or refer to it in other creative ways.

Shouldn't the unofficial Tex Murphy board have a unofficial headquarters in Murphy, Texas?

When I go to visit, I'll make a sign or something.
