Anyone a fan of Star Trek?
If so then you are sure to like what I just made. It took me 3 days and 25 dollars but the results are so so sweet. Possibly the best thing ever in my book
I have only played one match, but I'm sure to become very addicted to this game.

Nice job on the chess board, looks interesting.
(I'm not really a star trek fan though for the record *scurries away*...)

Considering I don't know what that's supposed to be, I must not be a fan. So far I've only seen parts one and two, and there wasn't too much to get excited about. In part one they float through a cloud for an hour. In part two Khan fills that void with bad acting, and cheesier lines.

Silence, blasphemer! The Wrath of Khan was one of the best of the movies!
Of course, the game freep built is from the TV series "Star Trek: the Next Generation", not the movies with the cast of the original series. Not near as "cheesy" as the original series.

I'm not really a Star Trek fan as I said but yeah I certainly liked the older series more than the new one personally. It looks more like a soap drama with aliens now mostly set within the ship's boundaries, less of the running around exotic and unusual planets. Even if it was cheesy I think it was because they took more risks with unusual locations and stretched the limited budget further back then (its the same thing with Doctor Who really, for the new recentrevival they purposefully limited most of the adventures to earth to take less risks in terms of visualising locations and avoid the'cheesy' aspect of the old series, which gives it a glossy look but becomes a bit stale after awhile and people began thirsting for exotic planets but they've staretd injecting that in slowly now). The best film of course was the one where they rescue the whales Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)
The new series feels like it tried too hard to be one way and limits itself. I like some of the limbs the old series went out on.
But I haven't watched that much Star Trek so I'm only speaking from my limited perspective.

"The new series"? Are you referring to "The Next Generation", "Deep Space Nine", "Voyager", or "Enterprise"?
They got progressively worse, but the pinnacle in my view was TNG.

Had to do a Wiki check because I'm not very familiar with all the different versions
I only caught the one and it put me off seeing more. But I remembered the alien guy with the huge ears etc. ( >this guy< )
So yeah looks like I mean Deep Space Nine.

So I guess it's unique in its soap opera-ness then and the fact it's like they're all stuck in this bubble of a huge station and deal with 'internal conflicts' for the most part, I assumed that it was just the 'style' of the various newer series in general but seems I'm mistaken. At least thats good then.It is the only Star Trek series to take place primarily on a space station, rather than aboard a starship. The show chronicles the events of the station's crew, led by Commander (later Captain) Benjamin Sisko, played by Avery Brooks, living on the Cardassian-built Bajoran spacestation Deep Space Nine [...] Deep Space Nine stands apart from other Trek series for its lengthy serialized storytelling and conflict within the crew – things that Roddenberry had forbidden in earlier Trek series.

Deep Space Nine was a wonderful show. Just as good as TNG but different. I still love the original series over them all though. And the best movie... why The Undiscovered Country of course.
I dont care much for Voyager or Enterprise. They both disapointed me a little, two bad captains in my opinion.
I am looking forward to the new movie which will be a remake of the original series. Though I dont see how they can find replacments for such iconic characters.

Jerry Dan, I only have to say two things.
1. There is a Klingon proverb that tells "Revenge is a dish best served cold", and there is nothing as cold...as space!
2. KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

Yes, there was some serious ham and cheese acting, Vracar, and I agree with you JD, STNG was the best. But even 1st season Next Gen had it's REALLY cheesy moments. Oil slick (or was it Tar?) man anyone? And Wesley Crusher? Yikes!!!!I think they came into their own at The Best of Both worlds, and Season 5 was my hands down favorite. The Perfect Mate, the Inner Light. Really loved those.
Travis, very creative. Franklin Mint put out a pimp daddy edition of that chess set out long ago. Running a gamer geek store for almost 7-8 years, I got about 10,000 requests for that chess set. A friend of mine cut a glass one several years ago. Tres' cool.
But Travis, love you, tidy up a bit. Geez, at least get a tighter shot!
And now, to totally change the subject. With this post, I snatch back from you, MTM, my beloved lucky number 7 spot on the poster list. You had to be away from the computer for weeks on end, and I might not hold it for long. But for right now, I will laugh my evil laugh, and enjoy.
