The last film you´ve seen and your thoughts about it

I agree Vracar, Hurtlocker was painfully well done. You just can't unsee the body bomb, and how combat can affect a person that already may have high risk behavior complusions.

The only thing I think that detracted from the movie was the cameos from more well known actors.
Jen, I was surprised to see quite a few of those big names show up for their few minutes of screen time (I was delighted to see the Ice Truck Killer in it), and it did feel strange to see them hanging around the periphery. The most I can say for it's favor is that it helps the main actors stand out more.

I was also surprised by how much storytelling can be conveyed by the simple act of a man standing in an aisle with cereal, looking across the boxes.

Watched The Lost Boys 3: The Thirst... No where near as good as the Original, but I don't regret watching it like I did that MacGruber... It's a Vampire movie, but the Vampire element as limited...

Still on Vampire Movies, I also watched the Sequel to 30 Days Of Night... Definitely not like the first... I can see now why Melissa George didn't come back to renew her role as Stella... It's okay to watch if you are a die hard Vampire fan, but that's about the extent of it... You most likely won't want to watch it a 2nd time...

Waiting for "Easy A" to get here... Hopefully it's as funny as I've heard... I've seen most of Emma Stone's work and I like her as an actress, but I'm kind of on the wire about this one, but I've heard good things and the previews look promising... Lets just hope it isn't like some movies that put the best stuff in the Previews while the rest of the movie is a bomb...

YES!!! It's mind boggling and almost absurd. Back when 'the ultimate' was serving in Iraq, we had a 20 minute discussion about the fact that there was 17 count them 17 different kinds of coke and diet coke on the shelves at the local Safeway. Look at us and then the rest of the world....

Don't get me started on Ritz crackers now lol... :o
I'm eating Ritz crackers just now. Please tell me what there is to go on about about them

Saw two movies in the last 24 hours.

1. Salt - very good actioner with one of the best in the business, Angelina Jolie. We enjoyed its face paced movement and plot twists and the ending was way too cool.

2. Grown Ups - definitely the "feel good" movie of the year and one of the funniest movies we have seen in a long time. Mind you, we don't see a lot of the newer movies because, frankly, they are gross. Date Night was very funny but had several moments that did not have to be in the movie and, in reality, added nothing concrete to the over-all plot. But grown Ups was just down right hilarious. Highly recommend it.

Tomorrow we watch The A-Team. Look forward to that as we were big fans of the TV series.

I watched it today, brilliant film, it has made it to my top ten. I'm starting to think of Christopher Nolan as the Steven Spilberg of the 21st century. What I love about this film is that I absolutely understood it, but if someone asked me to explain the plot to them, I couldn't put it into words. Expertly written, performed and filmed - a film where CGI is used as a tool and 3D-free while still being one of the most enjoyable cinematic experiences. I'll be talking about this one for a while.
I agree completely, Joel. Terrific movie experience!

Speaking of which, we saw The Voyage of the Dawn Treader today (in 3D). Wonderful movie! As well as the first two or perhaps even better! If you liked I and II you will LOVE this one!

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Very sad movie. Amazing movie! But very sad. It's a rare movie in which I not only care about the main characters, but I also care about the smaller ones, and that in their memory I smile. If I had one complaint about the movie, it might be it's slower, methodical pacing can drag at parts. The trouble, however, is that I'm not sure where it would be the best to cut from. Maybe one or two fewer hospital scenes. The narrators aren't as important as the story they're telling (and retelling).

And Joel, I also got Inception for Christmas. Be back with feedback!

saw a movie on cable - the last house on the left,
very good movie,

"if bad people hurt someone you love, how far would you go to hurt them back"

well the parents did go the full hog on revenge, while watching it I must admit I supported them all the way. I wonder what they did with the bodies & if they went to the police after it was all over.
Maybe it might have been a bit hard to explain the blown up head in the microwave.....LOL

Obviously I should be watching more civilized 70's films. Like The Warriors. Or Tron.
Tron is an 80s movie =P
Matt
For some reason I always thought Tron was older. Although after looking it up I realize why I never watched it:it came out the year I was born.

Inception

Leonardo DiCaprio has an excellent agent. Everywhere I look he's starring in awesome movies. Also, Ellen Page is hot. Not necessarily sizzling hot. This isn't the kind of hot that seems to spring off the screen. This is more like the kind of hot you'd like to get to know better. Inside and out. Not to mention that this is a slight departure from her usual role of snarky teenager. Now she takes on the role of snarky adult. She's matured. Moved on with her acting career. At the very least taken farther steps than Michael Cera. Although I suppose Michael Cera did do cool action scenes in Scott Pilgrim, but then again if they can get Keanu Reeves to look like he knows kung fu, I suppose they can get Michael Cera to do so as well. Although I suppose that doesn't explain other movies in which the kung fu is more crap fu and punches and kicks look photoshopped onto the screen. Perhaps I'm expecting too much.

Oh and Inception was awesome. Ending was predictable, but didn't hinder the movie.

Saw a movie called After Life on Starz... It has Liam Nielsen and Christina Ricci, along with Justin Long... Interesting movie... Makes you wonder if the Undertaker was a Serial Killer or just Gifted like he claimed... Movie starts off with Ricci and Long, apparently long time boyfriend and girlfriend... I'm guessing they argue a lot from some comments made... Anyway he gets a promotion offer to move elsewhere and run the law firm in that city and she jumps to the conclusion that he is breaking up with her, but in fact he was going to purpose... So she leaves the restaurant in a huff and ends up in a car accident... She awakes on an undertakers slab in his basement and he continues to tell her that she is dead...

Now there are some things that will make you think she is, and then there are some things that will make you think she isn't... The movie ends with the conclusion being in the Eye of the Beholder... So unless they make a sequel, it will be one of those movies you have to determine for yourself on what you want the ending to be...

I hate films that don't have the balls to give us a definite ending. Trying to cater to both opinions makes me angry that I don't have any real resolution.

Like Knowing, the one with Nicolas Cage? That ending drove me up the walls...

What was wrong with the Ending of Knowing???

Aliens knew our world was going to End, so they choose children to take elsewhere so that the Human Race would not die... Why each spaceship could only take 2 children, now that is kind of puzzling, but the rest of it seems fine to me...

I understand what you're saying, not all movies that like that are bad though... I don't mind making up my own ending sometimes...
