The last film you´ve seen and your thoughts about it

I've been somewhat surprised by Splice. I don't know that I was hapily surprised, but it was regardless very different from my low expectations. Instead of yet another movie of splicing experiment gone wrong where the creature goes loose and kills everyone, the two of them actually adopt it and hide it in a barn. It quickly becomes very deranged, a nice prelude to our yearly horor\sci-fi movie festival we go to every summer. I'm just surprised it got a relatuvely large release.

I wanted to see Spliced this weekend, was gonna go to the Drive-In and watch it along with the New Karate Kid, but other things came up and I didn't get out there...

Can't really tell if that's a good thing or not based on your review Frank... lol



Series that are turned into movies are rarely better, which is why I'm taking your point of view Fred... It's the same with books, books are almost always better than TV/Movies and something that has been an on going series rarely remains as good when chopped up to fit into a 2 hour movie...

Sorry Baf, I'm just not sure if I liked it or not. Something tells me it would be quite fitting for a drive-in movie though.

I got shown a trailer for a film called Human Centipede recently. Granted, it's an original sort of take on a horror film, but seriously?

Movies like The Human Centipede makes me almost think that horror movies are devolving back to the days of the grindhouse, all shock no substance. What's worse is that I think they're working on part two.

Fred, Moon was awesome. For some reason I thought it would be longer, but the story was paced very well.

Shutter Island

On one hand I read the book before the movie, so I already knew the plot ahead of time. On the other hand, it's freakin' Martin Scorsese directing so of course it's going to be awesome. Leonardo DiCaprio is lucky that Martin's takin' a liking to him. This makes the fourth movie he's directed with Leo starring. I thought the book was only okay, the movie is awesome.

Book of Eli

This is an amazing movie that just starts shitting all over itself and can't stop. It's like a bunch of amateur hacks got together and watched what better film makers and storytellers already did and attempted to be just as clever. This movie is so bad, half of the people I went to see it with, making a total of two, fell asleep. And the worst part about all of this is really that the movie just expects you to think that the motives in this shitburger are important. That we should actually care about the book, that this book is somehow the last of this kind and these ignorant savages and Gary Old Man can somehow make an applied science out of using it's words to enslave.

OK! I think I just might pass on The Book of Eli. (Whew!) I had to take some Tylenol laced Geritol after that scathing review.

I haven't seen it yet, but to me The Book Of Eli looks like Mad Max on drugs or something...

Now there's a movie I would like to see. BTW, is there going to be a 4th Max?
