I´ve seen Inglorious Bastards again very recently. And again... i felt perfectly entertained without being bored for one moment. Great filmmaking from my point of view.
The performance by Christoph Waltz was one of the best i´ve seen in years and i´d be extremely suprised if he doesen´t win the Academy Award. Another highlight of the film: Melanie Laurent. Have seen her in a French film recently and she was brilliant. Very good casting choices, regarding Waltz and Laurent. I´ll just never understand what Mike Myers was doing in that film.
Saw UP, I have to say that I was disappointed... It was a good Animation, but I expected it to be quite funny, this seemed to have a lot of depression in it...

Terminator 4, Salvation... I was quite pleased with this... The action and story were quite good...
I do have some concerns however... I was under the impression that John Connor was the LEADER of the resistance??? While a key member and highly respected, it didn't seem like he was looked at as the Leader... True when he asked the resistance not to attack until he got the people out, they didn't attack, but in no way did I feel that he was the Leader of the resistance... The people on the Sub seemed to be the Leadership...
So this confused me a bit...

But other than that it was definitely a good movie...

Going to be watching Whiteout and Law Abiding Citizen within the next few days...
The Paved Straight Road, Won't Always Get You Farther Than The Winding Dirt Road...

Concerning Terminator.

John isn't the leader yet. This movies is about how he becomes the leader. He seems to be in a leadership role at the end of this movie. I would imagine that he would be the leader in the next movie.

Remember too that the future is changed by the events of T2.... things aren't transpiring the exact same way his mother told him.
Matt
According to the explanations from the 3 previous movies, the understanding that I got was that John emerged as the leader of the resistance and taught the other surviving humans the means of survival and encouraged them all to fight back against the machines...
I would suggest watching 1, 2, and 3 again for refreshing purposes... Especially 3, if memory serves...

I mean according to part 4 there is no more storyline to follow... They now have that thing that shuts the machines down... No reason for the story to go on... I just feel that they have crossed their signals here a bit and have confused people...

Law Abiding Citizen was Great... I loved this movie and I'm in no way a Jamie Foxx fan, but he did really good in this movie... Foxx plays a District Attorney who cuts a deal with one of the two men who murdered a guy's family but left him alive... So the guy hatches a plan to make the system rethink the way it does business... Very good suspenseful movie...

Whiteout, Another very good movie {in my opinion}, Antarctica's first murder must be solved before the 6 month long Dark Winter {meaning no Sun for 6 months}... Kate Beckinsale plays a US Marshall stationed on Antarctica and a few days before the Dark Winter is set to start a dead body turns up out on the ice and it is determined that he was murdered, so she must launch an investigation and solve this mystery before the Sun Sets for 6 long months...

Whiteout is a very good murder mystery that keeps you guessing and 2nd guessing the Who-Done-It in this movie... It certainly wasn't who I thought it was, and I'm usually pretty good at these kinds of movies...
Again if you like the Suspenseful type movies I highly recommend this one as well...

Going to watch something called Across The Hall sometime this weekend...

The terminator movies do make ones head hurt a bit if you think about it too much.

The way I understand it, there are two parallel timelines.
The original future where Judgement day happens in the year 1992.
And the one that shows it happen in 1999 in T3.

Arnold explains in T3 that the events of T2 did not stop judgement day as they thought it did, but merely postponed it.

In the original future, Skynet was a hardware computer that launched the attack.

In the new future, Skynet was software based, ie a type of virus that used the internet to spread to every machine and launch the attack.

It does say that John rises to be a leader, but T4 is about his earning the respect of his colleagues to become the leader is meant to be and he also states in one part of the movie that it isn't happening quite like he remembers it should.

In the original future though, John wasn't hiding away in a bunker when Judgement Day happened and became a leader by being present during the events.

Not like in the parallel/alternate future where he was hiding away for a few years and then decides to come out of hiding.

How do you think most people would have taken it if he came out and stated hey, I know what happened!!!

Everyone pretty much says...... hey so do we. Get in line.

Anyway, that is my understanding of the events.
Matt
My head hurts just from reading how your head hurts because of giving the T movies too much of a heads up.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
Boy, that last post was "heady".
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
=P

I thought about it for a long time. hehe.
Matt
We watched Cassandra's Dream today featuring Colin Ferrel and Ewan McGregor. Great acting, slow but effectual tension-building storyline and exceptional acting by all, especially the 2 aforementioned actors.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
Pride and Glory... Now I'm not really a fan of Ed Norton, but this movie was really good... It was a nice cast too with co-star Colin Ferrel... This was a story about Police Corruption...

Anyone else been watching the New Series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, on Starz??? I have been watching it from the beginning and I must say the action and acting have just been spectacular...

They've been replaying De-lovely on TV. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the music int his movie about the life of Cole Porter. I don't know if anybody else here likes musicals but you can't believe a movie with all of Cole Porter's biggest hits sung my modern day singers.

I thought the acting performance by Kevin Kline is great. He's one of my favorites. It's a sad story but quite entertaining to watch to see what happens next.

Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
Just watched Shutter Island. Loved it! Both my partner and I were just glued to the story from start to finish. It's probably one of the most well written and produced films I have seen for a while. And DiCaprio is a fantastic actor, especially in this film. It's a very very good insight into mental illness, and explores it from a perspective I have not seen done so well before.

-Cub. =o)
Watch The Ninth Configuration.

Going to see Shutter Island some time in the next 2.
