So, I went on a PR hunt today to see whom out of my contacts I can get on-side to help with the campaign. Turns out an old University friend is now Producer at the ABC TV station here in Sydney, and does the "Good Game" gaming TV show. I've sent her a press pack to see what she can do.
Also, after this whole Gamespot Australia debacle, I got in touch with a friend who I knew had a contact at one of the gaming sites... and I find out she works for non other than... yep, you guessed it: Gamespot Australia. Have also sent her a press pack.
Hopefully something will come out of these two leads!

I'm so tired and sleepy and sleepdeprived I actually tried to find the "Like"-button for your post there, Cub.

I wonder if I'll be able to go back to idling after this KS is over... I don't recall ever being this active on boards and comments...
Yeah, no kidding. Even though I registered in 2007 I think I only had 3 posts on this board until this past March. Closing in on 300 now!
Tell me about it, I used to be very active on the original UTM sites before James gave us this lovely upgrade we call home. Since moving over and signing up to the new site in 2005 I have lurked in the shadows but always regularly checked in and kept the faith as Jim would say. So this seems as good as any and an appropriate one to make my momentous 10th (double figures!) post

Well, my contact at the ABC said that; being the ABC it is against policy to do promo bits for projects. Understandable, seeing as they are govt funded. Oh well, was worth a shot. At lease a seed was planted becuase it was forwarded to the production manager for possible mention in a crowd funding feature down the line. Might be too late by then, but I guess any publicity forthe project in general is good.
Still awaiting the GameSpot contact to respond with details. They have confirmed they have received the info, and are currently filtering it through the correct channels.

But hey, a new $150 backer just put us over into 55%.

I think it's up to the big boys now to get us some buzz, it's been a couple of days since the latest official update (and updates attract backers)...

Agree, 55% is worth a happy dance!

New update!
So what Aaron mentioned in a past interview at GOG about modes of play is making it into the game, interesting.
I would explore offering multiple modes of play – not just difficulty levels, but the actual gameplay style – so different types of players would get the kind of game they want.

Video update #7 is up!

LOL, Aaron must be watching the Kickstarter page as obsessively as we are. He hasn't had time to go home and change his clothes.
I like how they are deciding to do the pathing; more so story based paths rather than 'good guy' 'bad guy'

Wow... I REALLY want to play this game!
I wonder if one of the paths will be considered 'canon' (though I guess this depends on the success of the game to warrant a sequel).

Well I hope that they can still do further branching in that respect too. Maybe the overall arcing story branches is more just to help with the divide between newcomers and old fans, in terms of pacing, so that newcomers can take it slow and get more background, whilst old fans can get right into proceeding the story forward quickly.
This is from an Adventure-Treff interview Chris Jones did to promote the Kickstarter so I think it will be part of the new game. I hope that a later update, maybe the one they have planned for the gameplay, will talk about how dialogue choices change how things play out. Or maybe they could link more of the interviews they are doing on the main kickstarter page (they've only added 1 so far).
The great thing about a game with multiple endings is the chance for the player to decide the personality of Tex Murphy. If we had the chance to do a another full scale Tex Murphy adventure, we would make it possible for the player to basically create the character of Tex through the choices they make. They can choose to make Tex a lighthearted good guy, or a much darker, selfish anti-hero. That’s the benefit of interactive storytelling – allowing a player to chart their own journey.

Interesting. I think I like the multiple-story arc path idea. It will definitely add a lot of replay value. Of course as a power gamer I always want to do everything possible in one go, so I may have to get over that. But, I'm sure I'll survive. And, it will be interesting to see different aspects of the story unfold in the different playings of the game.
