Still went slightly over the daily mark for today. I'm hoping the race to 50% tomorrow will give us a little spike, but so long as we keep the daily mark we're in the clear.
The good news is, every time it goes over the average daily minimum for success, that value drops.

We can now have only $9,100/day on average and still be successful. It's already well on its way there today, so I suspect we will go over again. Maybe even by a large margin thanks to the Joystiq article and the mention in Jane Jensen's final video on her Kickstarter page.

sbenrap, you can use http://www.texmurphy.com now to link to the Kickstarter (just noticing your Justin/Twitch title with the longer Kickstarter url).
Yes, that is exactly what I had in mind (but naturally with CJ in it ;) ).

Thanks, I shall correct the link when I get home from work.

It'll probably be an official kickstarter update here in a moment.

Crumb bum. I thought it may have been just a test. It showed up in BFG's twitter feed. I guess they'll release an official one soon. Here are a couple of screen caps.

Now I wonder if they are going to show any game previews (if they have them)? Or should they even do that? Didn't that type of update bite the 2 Guys in the ass?

Those Two Guys' live broadcast last night having a 40 minute technical error start it out bit them in the bum too, if you ask me. I understand that technology doesn't always work the way it's intended, but when you've got three hosts, and one of them spends that kind of time trying to get the other two hearable, but can only get one up, that's bad. It seemed like they didn't have a contingency plan for technical difficulty. And then, after that, they said the new prototype won't be ready for a few more days because they've been more focused on meeting the demands of the backers.

I put in for them because of Tex & Jane, but after last night, I felt like withdrawing it. I know I'm kind of on the fence with SpaceVenture anyway, but last night didn't help.

Edit: BFG are putting 300k into the project, 450k from kickstarter, total cost 750K

A video about the gameplay is one of the things I really wanted to see and this was a great funny way to ease the idea in. I'm glad they're starting to promote some other aspects than the FMV (even though I'm totally pro-FMV). It works well as a nice candid overview of the gameplay as a whole. But I wonder if they should actually show clips from previous games and then talk about how it will be enhanced in a new game (don't have to show anything yet as in interviews they say they're still working out the engine such as whether they'll be bringing in off the shelf or their own inhouse).

I just feel that in vocally saying you'll have to be out searching for clues and solving challenging puzzles to crack cases, it doesn't give an idea of the whole technical aspects of how you actually do it. You hunt for clues, solve challenging puzzles and crack cases in Professor Layton too. But they're very diferent in how the actual gameplay is. Some may still think that like in other FMV games you just click around 3D rendered screens, such as in Black Dahlia which again you hunted for clues, solved challenging puzzles and cracked cases.

But the Tex Murphy series stands out for being unique in the way the gameplay was, I think that can only be seen by seeing. Anyone agree?

I agree completely.

The way I see it the Tex experience consists of (not in any particular order):
1) FMV cutscenes
2) Interaction with other characters by choosing a general feel (and being surprised by Tex)
3) FMV interrogation
4) Full 3D realtime environments which allows you to look in places, below them, above them etc.
5) Some 'casual' puzzles (re-assemble shredded paper, or other trinkets)
6) The fact Tex has something witty to say on almost EVERY object on the screen :)

So yeah, maybe FMV is a big portion, but the other 50% is just as important!

Anyone agree?
::raises hand::

Unfortunately, they haven't really started production on it, so they'd have to be working on a mock up right now that in the end might be different from what they could have come up with given a little more time, and might negatively influence what they end up designing (to avoid being accused of a bait-and-switch). So it's tough.

Good point Jerry. In a past interview in 2011 Aaron did say:
A 3D world is a significant investment and, while it’s a fun part of the old games, I don’t think it’s why most of our fans love the games.
However on the Kickstarter page they say:
a fully 3D world where you search for clues
then in a more recent interview about Project fedora:
Expect it to have all the things fans loved about the old games – [...] 3D exploration,
and in the Update #6 video:
You're going to be doing a lot of exploring, avoiding security and frequently searching areas such as crime scenes, back alleys
In that respect the bait has been set. Old fans are going to think of scenes in past games such as avoiding the GRS security where you had to duck under tables and crawl around etc. for example. Searching back alleys will remind people of behind Rook's pawn shop looking behind trash cans etc. such as in James' testimonial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PL89D ... 7JU#t=202s

So I think they're suggesting despite the budget that it will be like the previous games at least.

Though I agree in that if they're not sure they can enhance what they did in previous games more (outside of a visual overhaul) then maybe they shouldn't say too much. But they could at least show what they did in the 90s (similar to how in the pitch they showed what they did previously), which still stands out as unique even today. Because some are assuming that "3D world you search for clues in" is like in other FMV games who did much the same (but fixed perspective).

Exactly! These really need to be in a video. I love that Tex has something to say (often funny or enlightening) about everything, very reminscent of past adventure games from Lucasarts or Sierra and entertaining. And the dialogue choice was great too.
