Discuss your fears about the new game
My main fear is for the success of the game. In the start with Project Fedora all I wanted was for something, just anything, to happen. It would take something phenomenally bad to make me not love Tesla Effect. I love it already, like when someone in your family is pregnant and you already know you love the baby.
I fear that people will not like the game and publicly trash it. I'd be hurt personally if that happened, angered and saddened as if it was happening to me.
It's an irrational fear, but still a fear.
My other fear is that there will be a puzzle or action sequence which I cannot beat, and I'll never complete the game because of it. The sliding puzzle box in Pandora drove me to despair! The only way I could get through it was by sliding the tiles randomly until something worked... but what if it hadn't?
Aw man, this is reminding me of how it felt waiting for the Kickstarter to reach 100% aaaaaaaaaa

awwwww Jane....
Yeah, I feel like you quite a lot, although perhaps I wouldn't take it quite so personally I suppose - wel'll do everything possible to help it succeed though right? Beat your friends and relatives into submission and make sure they do the same to theirs I say
How can you not love Tex, his friends, New SF and that kind of storytelling and gameplay (or vee vill make yoo mwahahahahahahaha
)
Seriously though I keep my fingers crossed that folks in general will be open to what for a new generation hopefully will be a relatively new experience with this revival of FMV. It should work so long as peoples attention spans haven't been completely ruined in the past decade and they are willing to actually spend some time thinking before moving on and can get invested in the story and its characters.
I found the box with the destinations and pegs far more vexing than the sliding one but eventually got there (could you not bypass them with the hint system if you got really stuck?).
Let me hold your hand steady while you pour that nerve tonic Jane...it's gonna be ok xx

I don't really have too many fears with regard to the game itself. Everything we've seen has been at or above my expectations.
I guess if I had to say something, I don't like the implied plot point of a device that talks to the dead. This is, in my opinion, venturing outside of sci-fi into fantasy/magic and I don't feel like that's a great fit. But I doubt it'll ruin my enjoyment of the game.

It's not an irrational fear, it's an inevitability. Already in reactions to the trailer, you can see how people judge FMV games differently. They'll criticize the "hammy" acting, while praising the Looney Tunes acting in GTA (I read a review that talked about how good Trevor's VA is, when he sounds like Yosemite Sam screaming for the whole game). Not everyone's going to "get it."joliet_jane wrote:I fear that people will not like the game and publicly trash it. Actually, even back in the day, UAKM and PD got a lot of mixed reviews and criticisms for their acting. But they still found their audience, and I think Tesla Effect will too. That's kind of what's important. It's not about who doesn't like it, it's about reaching the people who do.
How could this be true? Ade said that the FMV in this is supposed to be about 3 hours or a little over, and UAKM and PD advertised having over 3.5 hours. Is there something funny with how one of them is doing the math?Cubase wrote:The length of FMV in this game alone surpasses that which was in Pandora 3 fold.

It was an underestimation. Nuff said.Frogacuda wrote:How could this be true? Wow. I hope that's on account of all the unique branches or we won't get to spend any time playing :pCubase wrote:It was an underestimation. Nuff said.Frogacuda wrote:How could this be true?
