Official Dark Knight review thread.

Guessing is right. That's what I believe will happen in the 3rd film, anyways. A lot of... guesswork.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Continuing the guess-work and spoilers, I think we will have The Riddler in the next movie.
The Riddler new the true identity of Batman and worked at Wayne corporation, so we have already someone in this movie that fits those req: Coleman Reese, the guy on TV.

Also, "Mister Reese" starts to make this quite obvious, but one can't be sure (granted, "Mister-a-lot-of-things" is always going to sound like "Mystery").
"Wer ein holdes Weib errungen..."

"My religion is the one in which Haydn is pope" - by me.

"Set a course, take it slow, make it happen."
This whole guess work does sound like The Riddler! I've heard some rumors but never truly connected the dots with Reese. I don't know though. I mean with Ras Al Ghul, Scarecrow, Falcone and even Nas they were stepping out of the box, even if it were meant as an introduction of things to come. Bringing up The Riddler after Joker and Two-Face would be very...Batman Forever. I really enjoyed Riddler from TAS, the only time they made an interesting character out of him, but I'm not sure making him the main villain would be all that cool, especially after such a damn great film.

But then again, I was skeptical after Begins, and I was skeptical after Casino Royal, and yet the trailer from Quantum of Solace made me wet my pants in anticipation so apparently it is always possible to do better.

Still, Riddler as some financial analyst? I'd like to see the explanation on this.

I have an absolute trust in Nolan, as I have since Begins, especially with the choice of actors, so I'll accept whatever he gives us next. I'm just very curious as to where this is going.

Rosebud was his sled.

But re: The Dark Knight, when AFI redoes their list of 100 best movies, this will be one of the few from the 2000's that dislodges anything. A truly remarkable film that gets better on the second viewing: Nolan is an expert at foreshadowing and you'll be surprised at what you missed.

Something I didn't notice the first time around was the "dog" motif throughout. Besides the deal with dogs tearing through his outfit at the beginning, I noticed Two Face saying that the Joker was just a mad dog: well, in practically the next scene, the dogs are attacking Batman (for which he already had a better suit due to his earlier encounters) and the Joker walks over and starts beating savagely at him, in fulfillment of Two Face's characterization. Simply brilliant writing.
Echoes of Harvey Dent's words, "You make your own luck" rattled through my head as I sat almost unbelieveably in dead center and a little to the right this afternoon watching The Dark Knight in IMAX.

On a whim we went to the Imax theatre in the Seattle Center. Alas, all the shows for the day (and most of the next 2 days) were sold out. But amazingly, in short order we got two tickets (face value and less) for the first show.

GO SEE IT IN IMAX IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!

They had the Watchman trailer, and turns out there will be an IMAX experience for that movie as well come 3/6/9.
Count me in front and center.

Not all of the movie was in Imax format. But the moments of high intensity were. The bank job, Sky hook, the downtown chase scene, the hospital, and all the wide exterior shots were absolutely dizzying at 6 stories high.

You had to really focus to see it slip back into 'wide screen' mode. Pretty darn seamless, all things told.

This was my 3rd time watching it, so I could pay close attention to more of the details. Still amazingly excellent. Gary Olman plays such a spot on Gordon, Ledger's pure menace, and Bale's lean and yet powerful physique are so real... not to mention the cinematography. It's got to at least get a nomination.

Listen to me babble on....

Anyway, too good of a topic to let fall off the page so soon, since Fred's thread became all about Dr. Who.
(not that I have a problem with that)

Hmm. post 1013

I made this!
Hmm ~ am I the only one that noticed that Christian Bale's cheeks look really chubby when he wears the Batman costume?

Bests, Rockefeller 8)
"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do"

"ERROR: Error Code Does Not Indicate An Error"
It's all the added gravel and cotton balls stuffed in there to get his "Batman" voice so deep and growly.
PLOT TWIST! Marlon Brando is still alive and actually playing Batman. Jim Morrison played the Joker in makeup while Heath Ledger served for the assassination scene without the white paint on his face.

The more you know!
