I wonder how hard it would actually be to port the game to consoles.
Dedicated to the Tex Murphy, P.I. franchise created by Chris Jones and Aaron Conners, and to the ever-growing community of Tex fans from around the world.

Xbox would be easy (due to XNA), PS3 a bit harder. An XNA title would be very feasible but I'd argue right now its outside of the scope of the project.Trilaan wrote:I wonder how hard it would actually be to port the game to consoles.

Here's a bit from the RetroNick interview if you didn't manage to catch it (hopefully they port some of the things they mentioned in other interviews to the Kickstarter page, its juicy info that I think those less in the know would be keen to learn)mr_cyberpunk wrote:I'd love to maybe see this hit IOS someday though.
Chris Jones: Initially we're talking about being out on PC and Mac. But we've had discussions wondering when we can bring other formats in such as cellphones, Ipads. We've set a minimum goal of 450,000. We're hoping we get a little more than that. The 450 would obviously be the basic but if we can get more then I think the opportunity to do the other formats would become available. Obviously if we put the product out and it does well on the formats that we're on then that would be an opportunity. But it would be nice if we could release them all at the same time, or at least closely to the same time these other formats, the cellphones and the Ipads.
RetroNick: Very nice, so you're talking about an IOS version, Windows mobile etc.?
Chris Jones: Yes.

Though I'm extremely optimistic that we will be seeing Tex again soon, I hate to see his project lose too much momentum after such a great first day.
To that end, I contacted Kotaku and Joystiq in hopes that they might make a post about the Tex Kickstarter. If we don't see something about it today on either of those sites, a more organized campaign to get some of the bigger gaming blogs talking may be necessary. Even if we can hit $450K without them, they would only help to ensure that this makes it much higher!
Has anyone seen this posted anywhere other than Rock, Paper, Shotgun?
My hopes is, its a bit of everything. I love UAKM tex, but I also love gritty broken hearted Tex from Pandora. So with any luck this time we'll see tex evolve in a lot of different ways based on what we choose.. this is an element I absolutely LOVED in pandora and I'd love to see it expanded on (to also incorporate UAKM Tex this time.. because I do miss that lovable clown PI!)."Danger's like jello, always room for more" video.
Some seemed to get the impression on other sites that because the actual newly filmed content of the (awesome) pitch beyond some of the initial clips from past games focused on comedic acting and intentionally funny parody performances that the game itself will primarily be in this vein. Though many loved this aspect in Under A Killing Moon (I love the humour and how it doesn't take itself too seriously either), for some its their favourite above Pandora Directive for this reason, but I noticed some (such as those new to the series or unaware of stuff that was in the Radio Theater etc.) seem to say they'd be drawn in more if there was also another side in the new game too with serious dramatic performances that convey peril, intrigue and drama thriller aspects. Of course the pitch was mainly meant as marketing and comedy does well for that (as shown by the fantastic responce) so it was not really meant to depict how the character acting will always be in a new game. I felt the clips from past games showed a good range from comedy to drama to action thriller but I guess some are mistakenly focusing on the actual newly produced FMV when it comes to what will be in the next game. The text mentions that it'll be a deep plot but I think a brief video might work to hit it home.
Yeah definitely agree. I loved each of the games atmospheres for different reasons. Something with UAKMs humour, PDs intrigue/mystery and Overseers thriller action/danger would be awesome. I kind of get the feeling in some of the interviews and Radio Theater they're trying for something like that but would be great if later updates to the Kickstarter page ports over some of their answers or goes into more detail (without spoilers of course) for newcomers and old fans alike who may not frequent here and missed a lot of great info. Looking forward to reading the upcoming FAQ.mr_cyberpunk wrote:My hopes is, its a bit of everything. I love UAKM tex, but I also love gritty broken hearted Tex from Pandora. I would image the guys would keep the most money from the digital rewards, as there are no physical goods to produce. Wonder if they'll consider this request or similar ones?Eren Koyunoglu about 2 hours ago
Can you do a high level digital only tier? Like a 125$ or 200$ I feel kinda stuck in lower tiers.
Wow, that guy is in for some serious fun!Guilherme Salgado Braga about 8 hours ago
I just wanna say that I´m backing these project and I´ve only so far played "Martian Memorandum" back in the 90´s! I only knew the other games existence a few months ago. Got to buy them all in Gog.com. I liked "Martian" and I still enjoy It´s main music theme! Thank you guys!
Digital only tiers sounds good. They clarified it further with this:redcat72 wrote:Just noticed this post on the Kickstarter comment page:I would image the guys would keep the most money from the digital rewards, as there are no physical goods to produce. They have a very good point about some potential backers maybe being concerned about customs, such as customs charges (which can get pretty hefty sometimes) and so not being as inclined to up their pledge to higher tiers due to the amount of shippable things that would get included (in those tiers or previous tiers below it).Eren Koyunoglu about 1 hour ago:
I just don't want the shipped items and they would probably get stuck in our damn customs. I prefer everything digital.
Yeah definitely. Same for this person:redcat72 wrote:Wow, that guy is in for some serious fun!

I've never played a single Tex Murphy game, so I'm taking a leap of faith here. While I was on the fence about this project, the pitch sold me. I'm in for $150, the main reason being that I can have all five previous games on GoG.com. Those alone are worth around $35.
