Hilarious Fred!
I'm tired of Batman (and superheroes in general.) They could cast anyone in that part and it wouldn't mean much to me.

One more thing. Now that the US government is up and running again (what a joke, only about 17% of it was really "down") and Obamacare is full speed ahead again it's important to remember that it is not free health care for all, like some on here seem to think.

It's just a mandate that says you MUST buy health insurance or face a penalty. Now there's tons of other stuff thrown in there (thousands of pages) but that's the general idea.

It's not creating jobs, unless you count the IRS agents who are going to be enforcing it. If anything, businesses are cutting workers right now so they can avoid the 50 employee business requirement to provide healthcare.

And no, Canadian healthcare isn't all it's cracked up to be either. I lived near the Canadian border in NY for most of my life and ran into plenty of Canadians crossing the border for their healthcare. They complained about ridiculous wait times and privacy issues.

My two cents.
K.... well, boy am I misinformed.

A mandate that just requires you to buy it????
And what if a person cannot afford it?

Are they at least providing affordable options?

And yes..... wait times are bad in Canada. But most of the ppl crossing the boarder are the ppl that can afford American Health Care.

There are plenty of Canadians that would be completely screwed if it wasn't for our healthcare system. My family and I being one of them.

Our health care system was much much better 20 years ago.... unfortunately the Ontario Premier Mike Harris came in in the 90s and started cutting tons of stuff. It isn't as great as it used to be, but again.... my family would be without health care, or just the absolute basic minimum without our system.

What happened to the right to choose?
You do get to choose among different plans. It's not one plan provided by the government (which would have been better).

If you are too poor you qualify for subsidies to pay for healthcare.

The whole point of it is there are people that need healthcare but can't afford it. Some of us are lucky to have jobs that pay for our healthcare and some don't. In an attempt to give everybody a chance to buy it if you want it. Yes if you don't want it, you have to pay a fee to help keep the prices low for everyone else.

I think of it the same way as school taxes. I have to pay the school taxes for my neighborhood even though I don't have kids. I accept it because in general it's good for the community as a whole. Just like my federal tax dollars go to fund stuff I don't necessarily like either. If you are going to be a part of the community those are the things that you do.

If you want to call it socialism or communism whatever. Keep in mind that the Smurfs and Sesame Street brainwashed you a long time ago that sharing was good.

I see your point in that it's for the better good. However, I believe people should be allowed to reap the benefits of not getting insurance, because if you don't get it you can suffer the consequences and that should be enough for most people. What's next besides the proposed constitution reboot? Mandated fire and earthquake insurance? A sex tax? I think people need to wake up and stand their ground or else they're setting themselves up to get trampled over.
Yay, an update thread. Bout time somebody got this place moving again!

I'm got nothing new to report really.

That's a knowing smile. WHAT DOES HE KNOW!? ...he knows everything..! Alright, people, dismantle the lair and get the nuclear reactor ready for travel, and put the doomsday laser back in it's crate! We out!

Don't trust the smiling rabbits.
