Yeah, don't want to sound mean, but I tend to turn the update videos down until after that big "someone just scored a goal" cheer

Good gravy, it's irritating. *rrrrraaaahhhhhh* *THUD* Every time I try to watch a BFG update it's like I have to make a mad dash for the volume controls to mute it. So stressful! Aaaarrrghhh! :x

One of the big things I loved about the older games was the introduction music to Access Software. First impressions count, and it felt cinematic and eerie while the letters scrolled about the screen. At that first moment, before the opening credits you knew to expect something amazing.

so... the next question is:
if one man can digitally imitate the epic live orchestra sound, so everyone`s happy for two pages already - why do we need real live orchestra? (that costs money, wich could be used for "more locations, story paths and name actors"?)

Its mostly because when it comes to all digital even the with the best samples there is always that intangible quality you get from live instruments making real music. Weather you know it or not when you are listening to the real thing it has the ability to reach you and evoke emotions in you that gives the whole experience that little extra something. This takes nothing away from Cubs skills or the amazing things he can produce its just a matter of context too. All of it has its place and another skill is to make whatever you do have work. Would hallucinate that he would probably agree at least in part with what I waffled on about above.

Again it is context, and on what level you break it down to. It is that good in terms of orchestration and arrangement and also impressive for the technical skills it took to do that without an actual orchestra on a computer. And that is oversimplifying it! But that is really of topic, it would be nice to have but the alternative is just as good just in a different way when you have skilled artists like Cub doing what they do best with whatever tools they have. That is exactly what AC, CJ and Adrian will all be doing as always. Producing amazing things with whatever they have.

i think it`s not rational enough with a limited budget they have
to put it in a different way: i would prefer more actual game content to live orchestra
maybe it`s just me though...

I don't fully understand the idea of a live orchestra either. Especially considering it's not...well...live. As in, in the room. You know? So what's the point?

Had we scored a million, I'd say hey why not.

At this point, we made good money, let's use it wisely!

My opinion, anyway.

PS: Good show, Cub

Well the tiers already state we'll be getting more locations, story paths and name actors ;) We can have our cake and eat it too.

Also there are some who find name actors superfluous too and would rather no name actors so the budget only goes to story etc. Which I respect as everyone has a different opinion on what would be unecessary. I mean I can do without the golf game for example but from the Kickstarter comments some are really eager for that. But for me I think that both a live orchestra and name actors will add to the cinematics, obviously Aaron and Chris are eager for this too, as they were already talking about some of those stretch goals before the project launched on Kickstarter. I enjoy digital stuff, even 8-bit tunes, but it really is just a case of a different kind of experience for each. And I am not even an audiophile :)

I understand some feel maybe we'd get "even more story" without those other things in those tiers, but at the end of the day they have likely been thinking about these stretch goals for a good while (they were already mentioning "more story" as a stretch goal the day before the Kickstarter kicked off) and Aaron already has a basic outline of the story. He has probably thought of areas in that story that could be expanded upon and what the budget could do including adding a live orchestra. He mentioned that "additional story" may include stuff similar to David Wright's cabin in Pandora Directive which was a late addition, if you think about how memorable and extensive that part of the game is despite being a "last minute addition", it makes you realise just how much they can squeeze in.

I believe their budgeting reflects that ability they have to squeeze in a lot into a limited scope. Bearing in mind Jane Jensen Kickstarter budgeted an extra $150k for live orchestra, a cinematic opening, linux support and extra dialogue, you have to respect that Aaron and Chris are really packing in a lot for less than that and there's probably a reason for that. They have managed to get big name actors onboard on a budget before (e.g. Adrian knew Michael York so could ask him in passing). So I imagine they have figured out how to do this on a budget and still pack in a ton more story.

After all story is their number 1 priority, if adding an orchestra or name actors hurt the scope of the story that much I'm sure they would of taken that into account.
Firstly we'd like to create additional game content, expand it and make the game even longer. We have a basic storyline we are working with, but it is taking that and determining funds for the game which will determine how large this game will be. We focus on character and story driven games so we'd be keen to add more.

What I think is a) The boys love music and would enjoy this extra feature b) the race for the orchestra has given Jane's campaign that much of a shove in the end, so they probably figured it generate a similar interest at some point.

I feel we got our magnificent push a few days ago, and the rest will be smooth sailing towards perhaps 125%. Unless Tim comes in and Tweets our way towards a million %, the way he magically saved Two Guys.

But our boys never got a single free press since day one. I wouldn't count on any outside help for the big finish. :x
