Hey guys, I know you're joking, but there are a couple of people who have mentioned that some Tex supporters have been trash-talking some of other kickstarters. If someone made a mistake, or changed their mind, it happens. We've got > 2K people (and probably 6K by the time we're done). Last thing we want is to make people mad. Then more will change their minds!

I paid 770 joel but it was back by 210 when I did it.

That's true, I hadn't stopped to consider that's how it may be perceived. Of course, we're speaking in jest, though it is disappointing to see people withdraw. But the bottom line is we do not know their reasons or personal circumstances so of course we don't blame them or demonise them because the fact that they gave the project any attention at all is a compliment within itself. It is after all a computer game.

The fact that we've made it this far is outstanding because it is the closest we've ever gotten to having Tex on our screens. We appreciate all people who have dropped by for a visit and welcome them anytime.

For this reason, i'll discontinue, with the exception of this post, to contribute to the thread i've made and possibly request that it be locked because despite my intentions, it may have been taken the wrong way which could compromise the project. For that I apologise and want to assure that absolutely no disrespect was meant.

It's probably not a huge problem here on our board; but putting it out in the kickstarter forums, or in someone else's forum, is what I was mostly concerned about. I know you didn't mean it that way. But there apparently have been other people who did and ticked off some SV guys.

I suppose it's OK to be sad about it rather than mad about it, though.

Or as we say here in the South, "Someone, BLESS HIS/HER HEART, withdrew some money."

My take on it is it's someone playing and not based on the quality of the Kickstarter.

Frustrations run high for us poor F5'ers. But we are not alone in getting upset about folks who back out/ lower their pledges. On Jane's board they'd get QUITE upset, talking about "a POX on whoever just decreased their pledge."

Yes, we should play it cool, but it's hard when we are so eager to push ahead, not fall backwards.

For the record, never have talked smack, but have been stymied.....

It is also quite possible said person looked at their bank account and saw a pending authorization request and freaked out thinking amazon trying to charge their card now and not at the end. I know I'd seen, and worried about, authorizations like that back when I first got my PayPal debit card and didn't know it was just the company making sure the card would let them put the purchase price on the card even if it wasn't going to charge it for a while.

My money, forgive the pun, is on an amount error or thinking they had the money, then realizing they didn't but deciding they would probably have it before the end of the campaign. SO they saved it for later.

The main problem I see with this system is that the pledges themselves are extremely impulsive, but the possibility to withdraw remains simple and easy. Impulsive buys are, by default, usually those you soon regret but can't really return.

This here, it's a marketing nightmare, really.

Also remember there's always this scenario:

"Honey, I'm home."
"Oh, what did you get up to today sweetie?"
"I donated $1,000 to a Tex Murphy Kickstarter Campaign!"
"You did what!?"

I couldn't help myself and post once again after reading this. You did mention in another thread that you were doing everything to can from preventing your partner from knowing about your pledge, this conversation has amazing detail lol

Agree, I'm sure some annoyed Gamespotter thinks it's funnny to donate a big chunk, and then withdraw.
