The amount of updates I find interesting. I think Tim only had 6 before his campaign was over. The amount of updates on the other campaigns come off to me as people screaming for money. Best to be conservative and do big ones instead of a bunch of tiny ones. I hope Tex doesn't do too many.
Also changing things doesn't give the impression of a well thought out plan.

I won't mind the amount of updates if they each have something new, keeping things jumping and lively
However I also can certainly see the other side where it might come across differently.
If update fatigue may become a problem I think they could put smaller stuff, for fun things and anything else on their Twitter, Youtube, Facebook etc. like they're doing now. It seems very effective and they could make a note on the main Kickstarter that for inbetween updates and tidbits people can check those sources. Then they can just collect multiple stuff together for bigger updates periodically on the main Kickstarter unless there is something urgent people need to know.
Also there is the Backer Comments page of course for them to chat to the supporters or answer questions without having to do a a formal update thingy unless a particular question is a concern for a lot of people. I always appreciated how in touch the guys are with the community so hope that comes across during the campaign to others.

it`s a blasphemy!!!I tested out my Kickstarter account on Carmageddon (just a couple bucks)
and don`t say a word, until the project is readyBjyman wrote:Best to be conservative
i thought being conservative is never the best option...
if you`re not a margaret thatcher, of course
i think it`s not an indicator of his successI think Tim only had 6 before his campaign was over
he only had 6 because he had nothing to show (except for himself) actually

Just posted by BFG on Facebook. Article about Tex and Interview with Chris:

As I read these now, I still think there's some confusion about the term "FMV" game and its negative connotation. The Tex games were never 100% FMV/image as the term often refers. They had a rockin' 3D engine with FMV cut-scenes. The Tex games also did not suck donkey butt like all other FMV games.plumgas wrote:seems to be a lot of fans here, hope its not all of us....

If I had my druthers, I'd make the F-word taboo. Because the F-word is the same as the S-word.

But there are also all the people saying they are going to donate *because* its going to be FMV and wouldn't be as interested otherwise. Swings and roundabouts.
I think if the whole Kickstarter page didn't have a single mention about it as if its taboo or refused to show anything in that vein to avoid some preconception the first thing I imagine many people would do is ask if the game is going to be done with FMV as they hope it would.
Again not all other FMV games than Tex Murphy totally sucked... I enjoyed all the ones I played.
Over on Jane Jensen's Kickstarter she did a Q and A and some were discussing how well the one FMV game in the Gabriel Knight series stands up (particularly over the fully 3D CGI one) which she agreed with. But then I also think Toonstruck, Black Dahlia and others are cool.
So long as they show how Tex Murphy was different in terms of how the filming was done (even just by showing some clips) *and* show how it goes far beyond being just FMV with its 3D environments and such then I think it'll get the message to newcomers.
Even GOG mentions "Interactive Movie" in big letters as there is definitely a big aspect more than just being simple cutscenes that are solely considered a small reward at the end of gameplay. All the action, dialogue, decision-making and story outside exploring and puzzles were done with it. Describing it as such hasn't put many off as the series now has more supporters via GOG.
So it isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I can agree some may need convincing via some evidence to the contrary.
