The last film you´ve seen and your thoughts about it

It's Oscar season, and so I strayed from my favorite genres to have a look at some of the heavy hitters, or at least those I hadn't yet seen.

The Artist:

Fun film that displays both intentionally and unintentionally why silent films could have never worked out for longer than a few years. The film itself, after about an hour, also becomes a victim of this reality. It makes for an interesting insight in the world of photgraphy and animation, but without proper text, the story is inevitably reduced to a series of thin predictable plot devices, as is the cinematography. Every aspect of film making has to be put into the service of explaining what story there is, leaving no room for actual film making. What it IS worth watching for, certainly, is the main actor, Dujardin, who was a perfect cast for this project.

By the way, it made me realise the saying ''A picture is worth a thousand words'' is quite a load of bull.

My Week with Marilyn:

Michelle Williams was wonderful in it, as was the overall concept. A ''biopic'' without the usual background, without any of the childhood bable, or any attempt at an explanation. It cuts right to the chase, giving us a week-long portrait which explains in few words all there is to say, and nothing more, about a complex person. Origin stories should learn a lesson or two from this movie.

A Dangerous Method:

I'm sure this one EXPECTED to end up in the Oscar tally, but was, quite rightly so, left out. Much has already been said about keira knightley's role, and every bit of it turned out to be true. I found myself either looking away, or impatiently waiting for her scenes to end, not because she was awkward, but out of sheer annoyance. The real problem with the movie, however, is that it goes on and on about nothing for all of two hours, and fails to bring anything of interest. The sudden ending took me by surprise, because I felt I hadn't watched anything at all just yet, and was waiting for the movie to actually begin.

Carnage:

Now this one has nothing to do with the Oscars, but I simply had to go and watch it, and was glad I did, especially after the craptastic Dangerous Method. It's very short, based on play, and Christopher Waltz is ever so fun in it. No reason to see it in theather, but if you ever come across it, it's worth spending the 1:20 lenght time. It will amuse you, guaranteed.

For a guy that watches movies allmost all the time i have spent up most of the good ones so now i have to watch shitty ones, and this is a warning to you all.. if you see a movie thats made by The Asylum preduction, stay away, stay FAR away. But if you like the pain of watching somthing really awefull then i can recomend Mega shark VS giant octhopus :P and Mega shark VS crocosaurus.. i give them a 1 out of 10.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!

Some of the Special Effects look cheesy, but otherwise the movie looks like it might be watchable... Even though they're cheesy, the SyFy movies aren't the worst things out there... At least they got Eric Roberts in there... Some some of the acting will be pleasing for a change...

I loved the Bungee Jumping scene at the end of that trailer...

I saw "We Bought a Zoo". Very nice family movie. Bound to give you warm fuzzies all over.

I didn't know Matt Damon could make a movie lately without wreaking havoc.

"Drive"

It went from artsy romance movie, to 80's "Scarface" violence. I didn't know what hit me. Great movie though.

Saw "The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists" (known as Pirates! Band of Misfits in some other countries). It was a decent romp but seemed a bit mediocre in places. I did think some of the characters were interesting (without spoiling) and some funny ideas but didn't quite catch my interest throughout. It was well animated and voiced, but the 3D version seemed strangely underdeveloped. I've seen quite a few films in 3D now, I enjoy the added layer and I don't feel they should have purposefully added gimmicks like poles swinging towards you etc. but somehow it didn't even feel like the 3D added much depth either. Near the start I peered out from behind my glasses to check if it really was in 3D (to see blurring as 3D does without glasses, which was less than expected) and the person I went with who had not seen a 3D film before also wondered what the 3D added if anything, they were more impressed by some of the 3D trailers before the film. So if you do see it I reccomend skipping the 3D.

sadly, in my town`s movie theaters skipping the 3D is possible only with the movie itself

Amidst all the new game hoopla, my wife and I saw the new MIBIII movie and it was really funny. Also, the story line was too cool, Josh Brolin as the young K was phenominal, and the new bad guy was really scary and super evil. In our humble opinion, it is a must see.

I saw Avengers a few weeks ago. If I wasn't saving my money for Tex & finding employment, I'd go see it again...and again...and again... It's that good!

Saw both Men in Black and Avengers.

Men in Black was very enjoyable. Time traveling plot holes were bit large, but though Josh Brolin did a fantastic job. I liked the scene when the cops pulled over Will Smith driving in the car. He was very funny.

The Avengers was good though I don't know if I'd call it great. Good action and lots of good character development. Glad everyone got their fair share of on screen time. I stayed to watch both bits at the end of the movie. The second one in the restaurant was fantastic.
