Kings speech was great I agree. He deserved the Oscar for A Single Man, and got it for this one. He is an acting treasure.
I saw "Paul" today and it was just what the Dr. ordered. Laugh out loud funny for the sci-fi geeks. Like Galaxy Quest, they poke fun of the genre and it's followers, but always with kindness and good humor. And Sigourney Weaver was in this one as well as a bonus. There were parts that we're a little over the top, and too much bizarre profanity, but I can forgive the conventional mis-steps for such a fun effort.

Galaxy Quest! Thanks for the reminder, Jen. Yes, that was a very funny star trek spoof with some really cool characters coupled with a great story.

Oh yes Galaxy Quest. I have to admit I thought it would be stupid, but I could not stop laughing when I was watching this movie.
Sigourney Weaver looked fantastic as a sexy blonde. I loved how she'd repeat everything the computer said.
Oh hey BTW, I just heard today William Shatner turns 80! Wow.

Last film... Tron:Legacy.
Being a TRON-fan I have no bad things to say about it, and it was my film of the year for 2010 (saw it Dec 31st too!)
Galaxy Quest was legendary. Rickman is great as a picard-pastiche of shakespearian/sci-fi crossover.
"I played Richerd III... now look at me, LOOK AT ME!"
Bill at 80! Incredible. Apparently he was sufficiantly... entertaining!

I recently re-watched L. A. Confidential. I love this film, it just feels so noir-y. Awesome characters, awesome plot, the way the dialogue flows, the soundtrack, the directing. All-around kick-ass flick.

Fred, I know I said I wouldn't post a review. I am just responding to your post.
You will like Battle LA if you go in expecting an army movie where the enemy are aliens.
If you go in expecting an alien invasion movie you will be disappointed.
Think Ghost Recon meets Half-Life 2.
There is lots of US army propaganda too.
I enjoyed it... it was rather intense at times. Jerky camera and lots of facial close ups.
Ending was kind of sudden....
Other than that.... It was ok.
Not the best movie out there, not horrible.
I liked District 9 much better. But this film was an entertaining pop corn flick.

Saw 'Hop' a couple of nights ago and we were thoroughly entertained. It was funny, cute and enjoyable. I usually don't like Russel Brand either, but he did a great job in this one, to the point where I could not imagine anyone else as the voice of E.B. Good cute fun.

I've seen Southland Tales again. This is a sleeper cult film if I ever saw one.
I'm finding I'm liking it more and more for each viewing.
Of course, it's not for everyone. Then again, neither was Blade Runner back in 1982.

I saw 'Monster' last night, my friend had seen the trailer and was like: ooooh its an action film, somthing like Cloverfield with better camera.... It wasent. Now we saw this movie thinking it was a action film, let me tell you, i was disapointed, but if i hadent bin told it was a action/horror film by my friend and just seen it i might have thought it was a good film, its a love story with some "horror" twists.
To annyone wanting to see it i can recomend it for the fact that its a beutifull film.
But dont see it if you want a action film, it just isent, and monster was a bad name for a movie that dident really go too deap into the monster aspect. But yeah there is some monsters inn it.
