here's something going in Colorado here.
Currently, there's 11 rural in north Colorado counties on whether or not they want to split off from proper Colorado (next boarder to Utah-*waving at Cubase, & others in Utah) and form the 51st state of "North Colorado" has already begun. I am not sure if this would actually happen.
I honestly do not think this will pass next month but its a long shot. For the secession to be successful. North Colorado statehood would have to be approve by the CO state legislature, the CO governor, and not guarantee by U.S House (Republican Party) and U.S Senate (Democratic Party) would both probably just ignore it since they got other big problems to worry about within the next three-five months from now on possible shutdown again in Jan 2014 and end of debt ceiling again in Feb of 2014.

North Colorado? They have the chance to name the 51st state, and that's what they're going with? Why not go with something a little more new? And, I dunno... Awesome?
They have the opportunity to name it "Bob". Or if you really want to do a number on people? Call it "Mind." Just imagine the speeches!
