Another Longest Journey/Dream Fall sequel possiblity!:)

Backed it. It's well on it's way and only on the first day! Looking forward to it.
Never did get around to playing the second one, but heard great things.

First one was an amazing adventure game.
The best of the late 90s.
Matt
I haven't played the second one either, but the first one is great. There's another project I'll want to back.

I didn't love either of them (the first one was prone to too much text/dialog at once, and the second had $#it where gameplay should go), but I backed anyway, because I think this one could be better.
well its doing well $660K

I guess that's what happens when your previous titles were outstanding.

I am still wondering why Tex had such a hard time getting this much.
I was quite worried during the kickstarter until the very end.
I didn't think they wouldn't make it, but I did think it would have jumped in funds much quicker than it did, considering how great the games were.

Might be because Tex was popular at a time when not as many people had computers, so many people missed the boat when it came out and the Longest Journey came out at a time that home PCs really were taking off as being part of everyone's home.

I am shocked they are making their goal so easily. Matt you are probably right about the computer issue for the Tex games. I had gotten my first computer with a cd-rom drive at that time.

By the time TLJ rolled around I must have been on either my 2nd or 3rd computer by then.

These Norwegians will be rolling in cash by the end of the week.

Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
well personally I feel there has been a good break between the time that tex murphy went on kickstarter. We had 5 kick starters going on at the same time & everyone was wiped out.

I have always felt if we had left it to a bit later we could have got more, but others were worried that the kick starter would dry up, clearly this hasn't happened. Even Broken sword wasn't long after our kick starter & I don't think they did as well as this one. I feel dreamfall chapters is heading for big money as it has been steady since it started. Looks like they are getting $100,000 + per day.

Anyway those backers we didn't get at kick starter will probably buy the game later & thats what we want.

Wow, thanks for the awesome news.
Pledging :P
You are also probably right Lynn.

There are not many adventure kickstarters right now, so this one is getting everyone's cash.

The other thing too is it is kind of good we didn't get everyone's vote or there would be no one left to buy the game and Big Finish wouldn't have made a profit, which would be a really bad scenario too.

None of this surprises me.

First of all, I wasn't worried about the Tex Kickstarter after the first couple days. It actually did very well, and the fans came through big time, and even pulled in a good number of new people with their enthusiasm. I think that the Project Fedora KS went pretty much as perfectly as it could have. I'm beyond happy with the result, and it seems like they have what they need to make a killer game, so that's all that I care about in the end.

But Tex is a much older series. It ended before TLJ started. It also has the FMV stigma attached to it, and it has a campy/un-serious tone that can be a tough sell. Even at the peak of its popularity, it was kind of a cult series. I was pretty pessimistic that they'd be able to do a successful Kickstarter at all until I saw it happening with my own eyes.

I don't think Kickstarter fatigue was as much of a factor as people think. I think the only reason we were able to pull in as many newcomers to the series as we did was because there was so much attention on KS at the time, and so many places to cross-promote. We picked up a lot of support from SpaceVenture, for example. The crazy enthusiasm of the fans was what sold people.

Dreamfall might be benefiting from the fact that people were waiting around for the next big thing on KS for a couple months now, but I'm not sure that Tex would have benefited from that same circumstance.

I think it's much easier to sell people on a finished game than on a Kickstarter campaign. I expect all of them will probably get most of their audience once they hit the market, especially if the reviews are good.

We should make a big push to get the game reviewed in as many publications as possible.
yes big finish know they have to promote it right this time, for what I have been told this new game is going knock pandora directives socks off.

I'm a little worried they haven't put it on Greenlight yet. I hope they understand that it's a slow process that usually takes several months before your game gets accepted. Getting on Steam is absolutely necessary for this to be a success.
wow they are up to 898,000 , heading for 50,000 over their taget
