A few issues here.Bafitis wrote:Anyway, even with knowing that they think 10-12 months, I'm stilling holding onto my 2014 theory... I mean unless they are working like 15 hour days, 7 days a week, I just don't see it getting done that soon... Not at the magnitude they've led us to believe this game is gonna be...
1) They had a big leg up because they did much of the pre-production and writing ahead of time, allowing them to go right into development almost immediately.
2) The man-hours they can put into this is directly determined by their budget, and they've planned the game for this. It was initially a 12-month cycle, they raised a little more and now it's 14 months, but it's not going over that unless they get more money.
3) 15 hour days and seven day weeks are fairly typical in the game industry during late stages of development.
Remember, they made Overseer in under a year, and they didn't have a script, finished engine, or any of the amazing tools they have access to now. This has shaved a lot of time off the top, and now it's largely a matter of building all the assets and filming the content.
I know it's silly, but I'd be disappointed if it lapsed into 2014 just because 2013 is the Year of Adventure. But I'm not really worried about delays because I know they don't have the money for them. A more likely scenario would be that things would get cut in order to keep their schedule.Chandler wrote:I am earnestly hoping for a 2013 release. Every year that goes by I'm getting older, quickly. I don't want to be too old to play it.

Man, they just can't win with the technical stuff. Still, it was a good listen.
It's encouraging to hear how well it seems the project is going and that the honeymoon hasn't ended. A lot of other projects I've seen including Two Guys seemed to stress how hard it is and how much pressure this is, but for Chris it seems like the whole thing is just a big homecoming.
