Whaaaattt thhhhheeeee faaaaaaaaaakkkkkkk?!?!?!
We've come for your Daughter, Chuck!
Maybe they are transferring it to a different, more robust site, they've got some big backers forums to create. :D

Don't panic yet.
Chill. It's happened before, and it got resolved in a couple of days.

Godaddy noooooo  wait!

Does anybody have a way of contacting BFG with an "AAAAAA HELP" message? On a holiday? :o
Yeah it is a bit odd. If it were just maintenance they would put up a temporary index with Under Construction etc.

They should do what I do with GoDaddy and have it on automatic renewal. Especially since GoDaddy's site design is so confusing and bloated with ads, it helps to not have to go back there except when buying a new domain :P

Yes, funny. Before I set it on auto-renewal, they bugged the heck out of me, phone calls etc.
I don't really like GoDaddy, but they are the "big daddy" of domains so eh. Support seems to be often redirected to phone only and its expensive on the phone bill. At the moment they have "locked" my account last I heard for some random reason and only will tell me why or give any support to resolve it by phone which I can't be bothered with right now, so long as the auto-renew carries on which it seems to be. When I emailed them they told me to go into My Account and get some number for email support, I was like "I can't, you locked me out" so they said "Oh well, phone us"

Well...because I'm in the US, phone support isn't a problem. I agree that their site is a mess, but they've always been very helpful to this non tech.
Erk, hope they get it back up soon.

I looked at godaddy once but their site was so awful I didn't give them a second glance! I've used nearlyfreespeech for years for domain and hosting and they've been great. Don't know about their support since I've never had any problems! I just chuck 'em a few dollars every few months and that's it, love it.

There is a number for the UK apparently. But it looks like one of those more expensive numbers rather than just a standard phone line. Since email is free and convenient its a bit of a pain in this day and age. There are also sites nowadays that do online support via a chat client, like eBay. Those are really nice for getting quick help on something. They also kept having problems charging my card due to "blacklisting" (never had an issue anywhere else), had to call them then too. Bah humbug! :P

I am actually quite disappointed that BFG is using GoDaddy. Their policies, ads, and sexist attitude are so repulsive I wouldn't use their service even if they paid me.
They're good enough at domains. I've used GoDaddy for that. I'd never, ever use their hosting services.
I decided to use GoDaddy for domains just because they've been around a long time and likely to stick around. I got burnt bad with tieing my domain hosting into a webhost who went down suddenly. Managed to rescue my domains but after that I decided to just sign them up on there and never revisit the site again unless I had to.

I dom't use their webhosting though. I use a company called Clook for that who have been around a long time and their support is great.
