IT'S HERE... the next big update!
Quoted for truth and justice!James LeMosy wrote:I've watched this a few more times and can't get over how much I love it. The attention to detail really is incredible – I especially love the red radiation glow surrounding the Earth in the Moon Child shots. You've created a true expansion the Tex Murphy mythos, and it's great to see the impact he's had on the world-at-large presented in such a cohesive, narrative way. I really think these vids should be included as a special feature with the new game!James LeMosy wrote:Cub, I am simply gobsmacked by this. It's fantastic! I love how you've pulled in story elements from all the games – and some subtle hints about the next adventure, if I'm not mistaken.Cannot wait to see parts 2 and 3!
You guys expanded the mythos in a little under 7 minutes.
It's always been my humble opinion that the secret to a rich story is the depth of the universe surrounding it. While we rarely or never see what lies beyond, its presence must be felt throughout the tale. The feeling that no matter how focused we are on a small portion of existence, there is the ever-present reality of a greater story, of something beyond and above it. Details like this video catapults Chandler Ave's reality to a global one.
Not to say that Aaron and the gang didn't do it before, of course. But that's the beauty of Mythos, the more you explore, the more there is yet to discover.

I stand happily corrected! It has been so many years since I played Overseer! But of course you're right. I really don't think we see sunlight in PD, but here again, I'm probably wrong. Thanks!Unorthodox wrote:Daylight didn't end, it just became much much more harmful due to thinning ozone layer. In Overseer a lot of the game takes place during the day, and also during Pandora I believe you spend time outside during the day.
What they did is reverse the work day, so midnight becomes lunch time etc etc. This would help reduce health risks long term, I doubt spending a day or two in the sun would cause too much harm.

Cubase, can I sub it in Italian and republish/spread it?
I guess I can, but asking never hurts
And if you're ok with that, could you (or someone else) please help me with the last 2-3 sentences I need to complete the translation? Details here:

In addition, at the beginning of UAKM Day One, Tex mentions that it's a "high level radiation day," which indicates that perhaps there are also "low level radiation days" where it might not be as dangerous to be outside in the sunlight.Unorthodox wrote:Daylight didn't end, it just became much much more harmful due to thinning ozone layer. I'm just, I mean, I, I.....I have no words. Holy hell, what did I just see? I thought my video offerings were good, and then Cub blows everything I've ever done completely out of the water and into space. I've been humbled beyond belief. Now I must go watch it again and again.

Thanks Guys!Sai wrote:Yeah, I can't get over how great that Moon Child was.
Aw shucks, CubCubase wrote:Yep, Rockefeller (Bjorn) did a fantastic job with that model and the other 3D in the video (incl. Moon child interior). He's a fantastically talented designer and working with him was very easy!
Rather than just 'copy' the design from the old game, I thought it'd be neat to completely redesign the entire Moon Child from scratch, using the familiar 'donut' shape as a basis. I also wanted to make it seem much, much larger, just as it was described in the book, with the possibilities of mountains, deserts, cities, oceans and valleys within. I did this by adding those 'open' glass dome areas - if you look closely at the three areas on the 'donut', you can see a 'city at night' in one of them, a desert in another, a green valley with a river running through it in the third, and in the center biosphere there's a lush tropical island surrounded by an ocean. Took me a little over a fortnight to knock out this puppy, having a day job and all ~ I sure wish I could do creative work like this full timeSai wrote:The detail really makes it. I mean they could of easily just done an overall shape for the Moon Child since its distinctive that way. But going that bit further makes it more grandiose.
If there's enough demand, maybe I can create some wallpaper backgrounds for you guys featuring the new Moon Child / Earth / Red Moon in various configurations - any takers?
Yay! I'm glad you like it! I thought to do that - I just remembered the sky being super red in UAKM (during the day), and seemingly normal during the night, so I decided to go with the idea that the atmosphere is filled with this slow-moving charged radioactive smog that glows red when the sun hits it - I think it looks really spectacular in the explosion shot, almost like the earth is burning in slo-moJames LeMosy wrote:The attention to detail really is incredible – I especially love the red radiation glow surrounding the Earth in the Moon Child shots.
Thanks Again Guys - stay tuned for the remaining two - they'll be outta this world

Can a bunch of you send me audio clips of you saying "do it, do it, do it" at 112 beats-per-minute? Matt would you be willing to come to USA (with your soon to be wife) and work for Big Finish Games under Chris, Aaron, and rest of the employees that is part of the company? You n Mel would have a great time here in U.S. I think this will both be your first time in United States, correct?

Definitely. Maybe have one with texmurphy.com link that people could spread. Or banners. Like I say, there's a lot of Tex fans who love UAKM most or its the only one they've played. I think spreading a high-res render like this might catch attention and spark their curiosity.rockefeller wrote: If there's enough demand, maybe I can create some wallpaper backgrounds for you guys featuring the new Moon Child / Earth / Red Moon in various configurations - any takers?

Cubase and Rockfeller, you should totally work for the new game!
Since it costs you money and time, have you thought about making a Kickstarter campaign some month after the Tex one to release Dvd or blu ray version, and to eventually propose to work on the new game special effects with the profits? I'd love to have a blu ray of this (and of the pitch and the other updates of the Kickstarter campaign) as "a souvenir".
And in two months, all tex fan's will have some money again.

I friggin' LOVED the Doom 3 reference!! HELL YA! Tex is way hardcore! I'm gonna get another job to help pay more I think.. Or ask everyone I know on my birthday (June11) to just give me money to donate to Project Fedora. I hope the game comes out by then June 11th next year. That would be the bestest birthday gift EVA!
Just saw this in the comment section... Way to go Cub!!

Heh. I was on the fence about this, having never played the previous games, but the latest video clinched it for me. I'll have to go get em on GoG now!
