Overseer from GOG
OK.
A little annoying to play the CD-version when I know there is a version with better quality, and I even have the game. But it is perhaps a slightly improved version, but with other bugs? It is a bit funny: Usually when I replay classic games, I am thinking: "I don't remember the graphics this bad." This time it may actually be true, it was better the last time I played.
Seems to me that I have three options:
1. The easy way, and play the gog-CD-release.
2. Find my "ancient" computer where I played Overseer over a decade ago, and play the DVD-version.
3. Or just play Mean Streets.

The reason we don't remember the Graphics being so bad is because they weren't... The graphics were quite good, on the equipment we had back then... Now we have High Definition screens and equipment and every little pixel is expanded and exploded and everything else revealing all the flaws in, what is now, ancient video...

also back then we used crt monitors not the lcd ones.
I went to the trouble & extracted all the video files from overseer dvd & converted them to mpeg1 so a video encoder wasn't necessary & the video scenes were much better than the cd version.
A lot of work was involved but the guys that did it say the game ran well.
I found still the crash crossing the ladder to clarke bosworth's lab.
I still have the files to do the conversion but I used my own software.
If you have a couple of weeks up your sleeve you can try it out. Personally running overseer in a letter box screen it doesn't look half bad on the cd version.

Heya, new here, but was having some laptop/Win7 issues with Overseer myself. I found if you create a new desktop shortcut, and set the Compatibility for the game to Windows 98, it corrected a lot of the lockups and freezes I was experiencing.
Also, turning off 3D Sound is useful, especially if you get weird stutter. Hope it helps!

I'm stuck in Overseer again! LOL.
I am in Alcatraz, and I've gotten the screwdriver and went back to Cell Block C to get the orange canister, but I can't take them off the wall. The hint system says I have to "Look" at the guard in the dungeon. I have attempted to do that and click all over the guard and around him, and it just says "that's where I need to go" but never anything specific about recognizing the guard. The maintenance droid has already replaced the filter. What did I miss?
