Australia to get R rated games!
Well, it finally looks as though democracy has finally come through. There's only a handful of people here will know what i'm on about, but up until now, Australia has limited its scope of what "rating" games are to receive which means that certain games (such as Manhunt) have been precluded from classification because they exceed the MA 15+ rating. Well, it seems as though we have been liberated:

Frankly, it's about time. Australia is a liberal democracy, there is so much more to the debate than "aaawww but it sucks, I want to play games with more gore damnit!" It's about extending an element of trust to the buyer and broadening their choice in games.
I know Cub, like myself, is passionate about the issue. If only we could share a drink over it.

yeah, i heard the news yesterday and plastered it all over facebook. It's been a long road, and while i won't completely celebrate till everything's in place, it feels good to know we can finally catch up to the rest of the world on this issue

He had to though, your local government required that he return with the plans for R18 so that they might debate it locally and then act on it. Regardless the other states will be implementing R18- South Australia being one exception as it is phasing out MA15+ in favor of R18 (Stickers on packaging will state "MA15+, Rated R18+ in South Australia".
Overall the result is very positive.
