Tex Murphy-L.A Noir style?

L.A Noir is coming out next Tuesday (I can't wait) and I was wondering if you think that Tex Murphy should be in L.A Noir graphic-like of the game with the latest graphic technology. We all saw the amazing L.A Noir video cut-scene/game play. I think Aaron Connor should consider it if they cant get FMV in?

You'll go for it?

I'd play it. But let's not forget that all this new tech does not necessarily equate to a cheaper price tag compared to FMV. I mean, the facial animation studio alone for LA Noire probably cost twice as much as all the gear they conjured up to produce the FMV in Pandora: http://www.gameranx.com/features/id/172 ... nnovation/. But, like I said, I think it's great technology and if Tex Murphy was to come back in this form than that's fine by me!

Actually tbh Tex Murphy could still get away with the old fashion methods, the only difference would be you're treating the characters as 2D sprites in 3D worlds. I was actually developing a technology similar that would capture many directions of a person using video at the same time, turn them into a 2D sprite which could be viewed in a 3D world- exactly like how Tex Murphy used to work except eliminating the pre-rendered cutscenes entirely (it could all be done in engine now). Naturally I was only able to use still images, but if I had video cameras it could have been possible.

I gave up on the idea though because I'm now doing something similar with 2D graphics, its cheaper and easier. I'm really not a fan of using 3D models at the moment due to how complicated and limited they are, at least with sprites you can do some crazy things without any cost to hardware.

Think of it like this, LA Niore would never run of a Wii or Mobile Phone.. but a part real-time pre-rendered game probably could.

What I really do appreciate and admire about Tex Murphy is how it managed to merge Pre-Rendering and Realtime Rendering into the one game.
Given up. Project Fedora isn't even on the website anymore. Big Finish was my last hope for Tex's return, and a few years, and 4 totally unrelated projects later...... 8(
Jen, don't give up now. If you look at the game play elements Big Finish has incorporated into their games, you'll see that all the non-Tex-related games are meant to fine tune their developmental ideas while also draw in much needed revenue. They're experimenting with these new IP's so that when they get to Project Fedora, it'll be the best game they can make for a hidden object game.

James probably knows best why Project Fedora was removed from the site. My guess is that it's better for them to advertise games that are either already in the market or near release than to dangle a carrot that we won't get to bite into for a little while longer. Just know that they're making the best decisions they can so that when Tex returns, his story will be told in top form.

Keep the faith,

L.A Noir looks like it would be an amazing platform for TM to be based on. But it all comes down to budget. Keep in mind LA has been in development for years. In fact it goes so far back I think there were initial reports of it just before the launch of PS3. Sadly, as capable as they would be with the right funding, I don't think Big Finish has the financial grunt to pursue something as ambitious as L.A Noir. Otherwise, it would have been done.

It's a shame too because the characters and environment of TM could lend itself perfectly to a gaming environment like L.A Noir.
Aaron only recently told us he was working on a tex game. I wouldn't say its all over Aaron seemed very enthusiastic about it.

Weren't they also planning another radio theater?

I do agree that it is disapointing however to see big finish release many unrelated titles. However their recent game feels like a return to the old, it does definately have hints of Amazon in it.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath.

...if we did that. we'd all be dead by now. lol

some people think we are all a pathetic lot sitting here for 10 years waiting for a new game.........

tex would look great like this & I am sure all of us would be happy to see tex in this type of format.

Didn't aaron say there would be a interactive audio put out in April, which has now passed. Personally I think the guys are past tex & want to get into the casual point & click games that make the money. Although that hasn't happened for them yet.

quote " one way or another chris & I want to finish the story" well maybe the book is one way or another.......

tex murphy is back in town
They certainly are hyping up the release with a lot of posters and displays. I'll bet it's going to be great. I have to go with Yakuza 4 first though.
I am not giving up.

LOVE LIVE TEX!!! :D

I honestly can't tell if I'd like that. I will buy Project Fedora regardless of what style it is in, but I don't see that as very appealing.

I am extremely excited for L.A. Noire and it is actually the only game that I've ever pre-ordered, but I still don't think that I'll enjoy it more than I've been enjoying Under A Killing Moon (which I just recently bought on GOG :D Happy to Support them). First Person, and Point and click, is the perfect way to play a Detective game in my opinion.

I actually have thought about doing a Mod recreating Under A Killing Moon with Source SDK or Unreal Engine, just for fun, Though I'm too busy with my own game ideas to bother with that any time soon.
Technically,t it could still be first person.

Just the fmvs and characters would be cgi like LA Noire.
