Hobo with a shotgun - literally

The film industry these days is beginning to remind me of the Springfield short film festival. Specifically, Homer Simpson's "Man getting hit by football". Apart from the gore, film length and use of a shotgun, I fail to see the distinction:

I thought Rutger Hauer had a little more class.
Actually I have to disagree, I think it sounds like it could be a pretty kewl film, if done properly... Definitely has Video Game Potential...

From what the News lady said about it being premiered at a film festival, I don't think it is going to be a Feature Length film...

You really can't tell much about the film from the clip.

It may be better than you think.

I did some accidental research into this and discovered...

Hobo With a Shotgun has it's roots as a Grindhouse trailer. The trailer won Robert Rodriguez's contest and it appeared in Canadian releases of the film. Here's the fake trailer for it:

And...they're making an entire movie about it. First it was a fake trailer, now a full movie. And it's not the only one. They've also got a full feature film for one of the other trailers in Grindhouse...Machete!

my friend Shayna was in film school in Halifax with the dude who made Hobo with a shotgun...she's in the movie and is one of the chicks who gets killed, lol
I heard Werewolf Women of the SS was also getting made into a full length feature.

I don't mind, really. I love the weird stories.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!

Just watched the trailer then - not for me to be honest. The angst and sadism looks too oversimplified and overt. I know it's meant in a comic book, black humored type jest, but it's nothing new. Not that I have anything against violence in a film, being a Tarantino fan, I can see it's place but there has to be some inner depths and intellectual qualities to it. Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill are great examples of this. After seeing the trailer for Hobo With a Shotgun, I just couldn't put it in the same league.
Hobo With a Shotgun was playing this year at SXSW. I didn't get a chance to see it, but I heard that it was random violence for the sake of random violence. Which was pretty much what I gathered from seeing the trailer.

Although, they had a Hobo With a Shotgun arcade game at the movie theater, It was in classic Double Dragon side scroller with 8-bit graphics to match. It was pretty cool, but the movie didn't look as much.

Later.
