We need some techies. Where's JeffR? Basti? Anybody?

Doh! That's what I meant. Sheesh. I haven't been able to figure out the name of the sound card. The Dell info just says it's "integrated."

Sorry to say, there ain't nuttin' nobody can do about that "Error is not an Error" message (short of playing it under 98/98SE :D ) It's brought on by XP and the return of code to it's error handling system. Sorry 'bout that chief :(

Oh well, JeffR! It's not a big problem, really. But now I'm confused again.

When I first reloaded the DVD and it worked right, it continued working right until I restarted the computer. Then it didn't work* even when I reloaded the DVD. Once I restarted again and reloaded it, the game worked again. Since then, I've restarted and reloaded a few times and the game keeps starting without the blue Access intro again, which is my cue that the game will run incorrectly. What could be the difference between the game loading with the Access intro and not? I may have mentioned that when it's running correctly, I hear the DVD drive accessed a lot more.

Thanks for the help, folks.

* "not working right" refers to the skipping of video and/or audio mentioned in earlier posts.

Sounds like you're using either the wrong DVD software option in the games config, or the rendering is wrong, try experimenting with settings in the config of the game, starting with the DVD decoder you're selecting
