The last film you´ve seen and your thoughts about it
Seen Shelock Holmes today and we were quite impressed. From the trailer you'd think it was a farce. In actuality, it was extremely entertaining. The chemistry between Downey and Law was utterly delightful and the story line was electrifying. A must see whether you are a Holmes fan or not.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
The Perfect Getaway, Milla Jovovich... A bit slow going at first, but then again a movie like this needs to be, if you've seen it you'll understand what I mean, but if I say anything about it other than the basic info it would give it away...
So Basically it is another Murder Mystery in Hawaii... A newlywed couple are on their honeymoon when they hear of a story about a murder on another island and the killers are believed to be on the island that they are now on...
It's a good flick, I recommend it if you are into the Murder Mystery Suspense style...

Just saw the movie Moon.
Very interesting indie film.
Astronaut Sam Bell has a quintessentially personal encounter toward the end of his three-year stint on the Moon, where he, working alongside his computer, GERTY, sends back to Earth parcels of a resource that has helped diminish our planet's power problems.
Basically, things start to go horribly wrong after he crashes his moon rover.
This film is sci-fi but not too sci-fi. It more centers around the characters and they are developed really well. Some of the themes that are presented in Bladerunner I could see in this film as well, but from a very different perspective.
Really good film though that I think a lot of you would like.
Going to see Avatar in 3d today =) Tried to get there twice yesterday and the first time we had to get something done at the bank due to some fraud problems in our city with bank cards and it took too long. The second time we hit a snow storm and when we got there, there was still 30mins left before it started but it was sold out ERRRRR!!!
Oh well, I bought my tickets for today while I was there, so this won't be a problem. Normally would have bought them online, but we have gift cards so I couldn't.

So I saw Avatar.
Awesome film and must be seen in 3d
Although the story has been done before, this was done with aliens and was done extremely well.
It evoked a lot of emotion which James Cameron is really good at doing even in his action packed films.
It is not in my top 10, but still made it into my favorites list.
Return of the King is still my favorite movie.

Welcome back Brian, so good to see you posting again...
I watched Ice Harvest over the weekend... It's a couple years old I think, but still not a bad movie... Not the best, that's for sure, but not a bad movie... If you happen to have Netflix and feel the need to add more movies to your list, but can't think of any go ahead and put Ice Harvest down...
It stars John Cusack and Billy Bob Thorton... Along with an appearance by Randy Quaid... It's about a couple of guys who work for a big time Mob-Boss and they figure out a way {or so they think} to rip him off... And the movie follows Cusack along all his screw ups and mishaps and whatnot through the course of the night in which they decide to put their plan into action...

My mom got me a copy of Public Enemies for x-mas but I haven't found time to watch it yet. My girlfriends brother-in-law burned us a copy of The Brothers and still haven't watched that one either. I need to get on the ball.
Thanks for the Welcome Back, Baf. It's been too long.

"Some men aren’t looking for anything logical. They can’t be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.”
Watched a couple movies that have been out for a while: X-Men Origins - Wolverine, Inkheart and Smother.
Wolverine was VERY good, exciting, tense and a good story line.
Inkheart, with Brendan Fraser, was quite interesting and we recommend it for family fun. The story was unique and attention-getting.
Smother was a decent comedy with some real out-loud laughs. Overall, I'd say rent it and enjoy, although it left us a little unsatisfied. Wasn't super funny, but Diane Keaton was captivating with her usual savoire-faire.
Next is The Brothers Bloom which looks like fun.

Finally saw The Green Mile from beginning to end.
Saw little bits and pieces when it was on Tv over the years, but never the whole thing.
All I have to say is what a film. This was really good.
I was surprised that Stephen King actually wrote this. I am not saying he is a bad writer as I enjoy his movies and the books that I have read, but this is quite a departure from what he is used to writing, and that is not a bad thing. The only other movie that is in this category of writing for him is the Shawshank Redemption, another phenomenal Movie. I think he should write more movies like this.
Really heartbreaking story.
There was one plot hole in the story that got me *spoiler*
If 'Wild Bill' Wharton was working for the father of the two girls that were killed by him.... and he was later convicted of killing 3 people in an armed robbery, then why was he not a suspect? You would think that they would link him to the crime in some way due to his criminal record, but they completely ignored the fact that he was there. He ate at their dinner table for Pete's sake.
*end spoiler*
Or did I miss something here?

I saw Avatar in 3-D. The 3-D is amazing and worth it in and of itself.
The story is incredibly cliche-driven, and for some reason, felt very 80s to me. The cast is also pretty flat. The kids won't mind, but if you're as hardcore into film as I am, it will seem very paint by numbers.
A similar film is District 9, which is superb, but definitely not for kids.

Watched The World's Greatest Dad last night... Very weird film... I saw previews and they made it out to be a Comedy and so did the Interview that Robin Williams gave Jay Leno, especially when they talked about his Nude scene, which I could have definitely done without...
I'm going to spoil it if you haven't seen it, so read at your own risk:
Anyway, it couldn't be further from a comedy... Sure it had a couple of laughs in it, but this movie is about a father losing his son and because of embarrassment to the family, he covers up his son's death to make it look like a suicide, all the while rotting inside because of what he has done... In the end he admits what he has done and then goes and jumps in a pool naked, which makes a little sense if you follow the film... But still a very weird film...
Is it just me or ever since that One Hour Photo, has Robin Williams been doing a lot of weird films???

Watched Knowing and The Borthers Bloom.
Knowing:
I really like the idea of this film, I mean the story line was pretty cool. Anything with symbolisms can usually be developed into a good flick IF they have the right script-writers, good actors and terrific direction. How would I rate this movie? 2 out of 4 stars, mostly for the symbol-factor and some for N. Cage (he's one of my favs).
The Brothers Bloom:
I recommend this movie for several reasons, the foremost one is the cool story line. Secondly, the acting was really good, the exotic locations well chosen, and the many twists and turns (although a bit predictable) captivating. Not a great movie, but a good one, especially since it is out on DVD.
