Another problem with PD on XP
Hi everyone!
I'm new here and hope to find some answers to my technical problems with Pandora Directive. Sorry if it has been mentioned before, but I haven't found it.
I'm running PD on Windows XP Pro using VDMSound. Videos and sounds are pretty smooth, no problems here. Also, the IRQ8-problem has been taken care of.
The actual problem is the speed the game runs in, mainly in Movement Mode. It's way too fast - I just have to tip the mouse in one direction to make Tex perform a full 360 degree turn. That makes the game pretty much unplayable.
I've already tried lowering the DMA servicing settings and/or capping the DOS timer frequency in VDMS, but that resulted only in choppy mouse movement and crackling sound without doing anything about the original problem.
Any ideas about this one?
Oh, and some of my computer specs, in case that helps:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
1GB RAM
Radeon X800
OnBoard Sound
Thanks in advance for your input

Thanks, both of you.
Mouse sensitivy and movement speed is set to low, but it doesn't make much difference.
I remember trying to play PD on my last computer using Dosbox, but I just couldn't find the right amount of cycles... either the music or the graphics were extremely choppy. Apart from that, I had desktop crashes - no fun at all.
Any other ideas?

Just a little update: I've tried Dosbox again, still doesn't work. Apart from the occasional hang-up (3 out of 10 times when I try to 'look' at something) there's still the problem of having either choppy movement or choppy sound. I tried to change the cycles during the game, and also tried the different core modes.
Hm. Probably a little farfetched, but has anyone run PD on a 64 Bit computer? Could that be the problem?
